2 more personalities debut on Pulse 87 Monday! (3-3)

I don't have the names...but the information comes from a VERY reliable source that beginning Monday 3-3, most likely for drive-time and prime-time, 2 more on-air personalities will be heard on Pulse 87!

The station is coming along nicely! Keep supporting it! :)

The Night jock should be announced today I think. He's a good guy that people will know from another NY station (located in NJ).

As for the PM jock, I know that announcement will also be in the next couple of days but we weren't told who it was going to be during our visit yesterday. ;)

3 new jocks and a high-profile morning show in less than a month.

And then you have stations like K-Rock, which needed a year or so to fill in its schedule, or Free FM, with its eternal "tryouts" in the evenings, or 'RXP, with their one jock (plus apparently a new voicetracked jock in middays as well), or Lite FM, who have fired pretty much the entire airstaff of the #1 station in ratings and billing in the US.

Amazing. All the more reason why I am also supporting Pulse ;D

From another New York station (located in NJ)? WKTU is located not far from my apartment here in Jersey City. I was hoping that Pulse 87 would hire some young jocks.
Not the same old recycled washed up ones.

The jock in question is young, not washed up and quite the personality. Why not wait to see who it is before getting all down about it.

They were the people canned from KT-who when they moved away from dance.
They should also look at jocks from Orlando's 95.3 Party and Miami's Party 93.1 who got canned.
SIDE NOTE: Party 93.1 flipped to rock because Zeta 94.9 flipped to Spanish. There are about 5 other Spanish stations in Miami. And only one pirate dance station. If 94.9 didn't flip, maybe 93.1 would still be dance (and the pirate would have another format)

I don't see how a station with a niche format, horrible dial position (one that isn't even on the standard FM dial), and equally horrible signal is going to bill squat.

I give them a life expectancy of 12 months tops before financial woes cripple them.

I don't think that billing is Mega Media's first priority although I believe they will bill enough to survive. I give them credit for thinking outside of the box. Doing what they did is is an innovative way to get a format on the radio and get another station on an already crowded dial. It is exactly this innovative thinking that makes radio new and exciting...or should we program another predicatable Free FM??
Who knows what the future could bring for Mega Media....
With Citadel's current woes perhaps we'll hear Pulse 95.5 in 6 months.
Let's not be so critical and be happy we have more choice on the NY's boring radio dial regardless of our musical tastes!

Im glad Pulse came along. I used to listen to:

Shot 97 (Emmis Payola Station-PD Ebro Darden)

Power 1-0-Jive-One (Cookie Cutter CC Hip-Hop Station...Neo and Boon-Keyshia Cole everyday all day)

Kiss (Another Emmis Payola Station...former PD Toya Beasley/Current PD Ebro Darden)..................King and Queen of Payola

Now I have something better to listen to.

so there's another topic that has already named Showboat as 1 of the 2.
I may be going out on a limb here but I'm going to place my chips on Vic Latino being the other.

any one feel want in on the action?

I don't believe so but I know He and Joel have ties not to mention the fact since he has part ownership/ OM of Party he'll still be involved with them but on air in NYC. Being that TMO is independent I could see it possible, He won't have all the hoops to jump thru as if it would have been a commitment with CC or CBS etc...

Why would he want to go from a commercial station you can actuly hear and go to a non-commercial station that you can barely hear?

well I did say i was going on a limb... now that being said, Vic is the type of person who doesn't look at the present he looks at the future and the potential. Regardless of the current state of mega media he'd look at what can come out of it. Besides He's a radio guy through-and-thru so why not play the music you love in the #1 market (regardless of power) and most of all with out all the hassles of a big corp. Not to mention what better way to stick it to CC. besides he'll still be running things over at tmo. worst case scenario get your $ in L.I. (tmo/whitehouse etc..) and do what you love in nyc. even if it is as a hobby

Again these are all circumstantial theories but if I had to place my chips some where that's where I would if i were a gambling man... but tomorrow will tell if I miss placed my chips and well crapped out and lost the farm ;D.

Because he wouldn't. Pulse 87 is a commercial station and in much of NYC, you can definitely pull it in. I've driven all over Queens, Nassau County, Bronx, Westchester, Fairfield County, and pull it in quite nicely on the car radio in all of those locations.

The sour grapes some people have about this station is amazing. Everyone complains about no one doing anything out of the box on the radio, then someone comes along and does it and people whine and nitpick and predict its demise immediately.

well there goes the farm!!! never-the-less I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen in the future but for now... this farm-less man Congrats Laura Styles and Showboat!

I don't find the signal as bad as everyone seems to claim.
I got it out to exit 64 on the LIE with incredible clarity.
I also get it ALL over the city with no issues.

Yeah, I second that. I have to say I work in the heart of midtown and get it in perfectly clear on the little boom box in my office. Not a single problem.

Why the hell would Vic leave Party, where he is the operations manager and morning show host?
