96.5- Reggae music. Very good signal in the eastern half of the city. Coming in strong in parts of town that Vibe 105.3 isn't reaching.
98.9- Haitian music, a rather weak signal. Sak passe?

There a Pirate on 96.5 and 101.3 in Brocton . With two Pirate on 101.3 ( Brocton and Big city 101.3 in Boston ) , Rt 24( Randolph ) is the signal battle field .

It looks like 96.5 in Brockton is actually applying to get a license on 90.1, where there's currently a gospel pirate on weekends. They are one of many new applications for non comm stations, many of which are on Cape Cod. Many will probably never get approved

http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/fmq?list=0&facid=171223

The address on the application, 69 N Montello St is where 96.5, and other pirates in the past, broadcast from.

WCAI-90.1 FM -Matrha's VIneyard,WZBC-90.3 FM -Newton and WRIU-90.3 FM- Westerly ,RI and that they are pirates now; 4 reasona wont get approved.

I just noticed a new pirate tonight on 105.5... probably in Brockton. Once again, a Brockton pirate right up against a local, like we had 98.9 and 103.1 in the past.

I'm not referring to 96.5 in Brockton. 96.5 in Boston is new. If they are the same station then this is truly incredible because the signal is very clear in Roslindale and Jamaica Plain.

Well, the FCC is probably spending most of its time counting the license renewel fees from legitimate radio stations! :D

I would never condone pirate broadcasting, but the absolute dullness and lack of musical variety in this market may breed some of this. Absolutely no urban contemporary, urban AC, and almost no Spanish are just the beginning. Musical formats in the Boston DMA has about as much variety as you'd find in Charleston, West Virginia. It's just executed better here.

These days, you could probably make a "successful" 50s and 60s pirate in Boston too! A sad situation....

Funny, but this is true for the legit stations at 100.3 also, on rt 28 Randolph.
Up in north Randolph the crappy classic rock station dominates and south near Avon,Latina 100.3 starts to take over strong.

Add 106.3 ( Hot 106 and Crap in N H ) and 107.1 ( Fun 107 and more N.H. Crap ) to total signal mess list , in The Boston Area .

I'm REALLY tired of your eloquent proclamations. What makes them "crap"? What qualifies you to make that statement?
Oh yeah...if it ain't rap, it's crap, right? :(

"Crap" is subjective - everyone is entitled to an opinion, and having one is qualification enough. Personally, I find RapKing's unambiguous positions rather refreshing - even if I'm not in agreement (though usually i am..)

John Silber is admired and reviled for the same kind of hard nosed bull headedness.

[/quote] Lets see here , I like WHJY ( alot off Rap music there, LOL ) . WEEI ( I like Sports Rap ) is the only Good station in Boston ( outside of College and Pirate stations ) . I like Urban A/C stations ( Old Nash WILD-AM , R&B Only, Where The Rap? ) I like 88.9 at Night ( WOW ! There The RAP ! ) .

The question I asked was "What makes them crap? What qualifies you to make that statement"?
While I'm glad to see you realize there's more than rap in the world, you still haven't answered those questions.
PS-PLEASE consider using a spell-check sir.
