2 new logs this summer

Ok that may not sound like much, but here they are.
When I came back home in June I had a new log on 101.9, turned out to be KCFS-LP/Mukilteo, WA new sign on. Then this morning, I noticed KOMO-FM was coming in stronger than usual, so I did a quick tropo scan and had KANY 107.3, the only one I know of on the frequency playing country music. That means that I've received all of the Jodesha FMs up here, that was the last one. I was also able to get CBUF in KOMO null and CKLG in KYYO null. Both of these are overall relogs, but haven't heard them in a while. As a blind person, what's the best way to tell if there's E-Skip in the area? I've only heard it twice and I've never had the radio to myself when it's happened, though I probably should have turned it on one of the times I had it. Since I've had the G8 though, very few new logs.

It's getting very late in the Es season. But use these sources if you want to get on an Eskip opening.
http://dxworld.com/tvfmlog.html (TVFM Skip Log - I am on there, as well as a DXer in Seattle. If there is RED on the logger, that means someone is logging E-skip.)
http://www.dxmaps.com/spots/map.php?Lan=E&Frec=50&ML=M&Map=NA&DXC=N&HF=N&GL=N (6-meter 50mhz DX map - red paths means E-skip.)

101.9 is KCSC-LP Mukilteo. I heard them east of North Bend on the G5 last week while coming back from Seattle. In Seattle it was KVSH-LP Vashon Island with a fair signal on 100W. No KINK - and will probably be harder to hear them in the Seattle area now.

TVFM log is all text. If you go to this link:
http://www.dxmaps.com/spots/map.php?Lan=E&Frec=50&ML=L&Map=NA&DXC=N&HF=N&GL=N

it will list out all the 6m DX contacts for a brief period in the United States. Look next to the call sign and you'll see two letters and two numbers. That is the grid square where the operator is hearing the DX signal. If you see any that say "CN87" "CN88" "CN85" "CN89" "CN96" "CN97", get ready because there might be skip in your area. Usually the E-skip signals will be in the DM, EN or DN grids, although there is lots of 6-meter skip each year to the CM grids (San Francisco and the CA coast). Edmonds WA is in CN87. I'm in CN96 Yakima WA.

On the TVFM log, watch for "RED" postings from me (Yakima CN96), Rick N6KCR in Seattle, KB7WOX in Oregon and sometimes people from the opposite end of the cloud. If they are reporting WA, BC, OR, etc. check FM for skip.

One more questin about the site, it looks like you need a login for the site. Do you have to have a ham callsign to use the site? I also got 3 new fm logs the other night, as well as confirming a log from a couple weeks ago.
88.1 unid with rap music under KWAO, likely CBC Vancouver.
89.3 unid music likely KAOS/Olympia, WA. 91.7 got an ID on this one but don't know it, said 91.7 Coast FM.
1290 I finally confirmed this one as KUMA/Pendelton, OR.
Last but not least, unid ESPN on 1340.

You don't need a login. Just look at the list, if you find any contacts that are the grids listed above, get ready. If it gets really short (i.e. less than 900 km), usually FM is open, but I have seen FM open with just a couple of 6m contacts on the map.
Your 91.7 is CKAY Gibsons, BC, on the Sunshine Coast northwest of Vancouver.
Another good channel to try is 104.7. I've gotten CKKS Sechelt BC 350W on that frequency (it repeats Mountain FM in Squamish), in Marysville and at Yost Park near Edmonds.
ESPN on 1340 could be anyone, but best guess likely KJOX Kennewick WA.

Btw 104.7 was just KDUX when I had that signal. One more question, it looks like I can choose between 2 m, 4 m, 6 m, and 70 cm when I sign up for the email warnings. What's the best one of those for fm?

6 meters (50-mhz). The stronger 6M paths are, the better. Check on the list and for the red paths.

Thanks As I can't see color that won't help me, but I signed up for email warnings so I'll hopefully be able to get some useful information out of those. Of th estimated mufs you've seen, how accurate are they? I did have an email earlier today of an opening on 6 meters up to 72 MHz, probably a bit to low for fm.
