2 of U.S.'s Best Jocks on Sidelines in Atlanta.

In my opinion, Sandy Weaver and JoJo Morales are two of the most talented radio people in the U.S. They both live in Atlanta and don't have full-time jobs.

Sandy, by the way, was a great CHR jock in D.C. and then did the morning show on WMZQ, D.C.'s country station. She came to Atlanta in 1994, when her husband was transferred here. As everyone knows, she's leaving her part-time job at Kicks.

JoJo appears in obscure weekend slots on Star 94, such as after American Top 40 on Saturday nights.

It probably will be difficult if not impossible for either of them to land a full-time shift here. They're both older and probably expensive, 2 traits not consistent with most of today's jocks.

With almost all FM stations music intensive after morning drive, sounding great does not seem to be the most important qualification for getting hired. When a station has an excellent signal and processing, not much direct format competition, and good formatics (sometimes put in place by corporate), why shouldn't the station hire an adequate talent for half the price of a superior talent if doing so doesn't affect its ratings?

That seems to be the way things work these days. Maybe someone disagrees.

Jo Jo is great, has been for years, will continue to be. He'll be back, just you watch. ;)

Sandy's problem must be the money or she would be employed FT. At Lite, its tough to break through the voicetracking, but country should have something for her. Garry Kinsey, who does mid-days at Eagle, must be thinking about heading on eventually. He's a very nice man but his heart hasnt been in radio since he came to FM in the late 80s. He's the male version of Jordan Graye - just the facts, ma'am. Sandy could do his job pretty well.

It's even tougher to break through the idiocy of Marc Chase, who's run off half their audience.

Wow! I am really flattered and humbled by all the kind words here! Thanks for all the love.

There was a question about my exit from afternoons at Q100, The parting was amicable. The station did not meet its revenue targets and there was a major restructuring about a year and a half into the project. Myself, Ed Lambert and Suzy Tavares were a huge part of the talent budget there, and thus we were not renewed and all exited within a few days and weeks of each other. Dylan replaced myself and Ed. I returned there last year for part time but whem the opportunity to work at Star popped up, I grabbed it. Star is more compatible with my lifestyle.

JoJo ... thanks for your response! I had a feeling it was amicable and for financial reasons. Enjoyed listening to ya when I was leaving work in the afternoons.
