From Phillies Press Release
Phillies TV notes06/08/2006 12:30 PM ETMLB.comNo Saturday TVFOX has opted against televising the Saturday, June 10, Phillies-Nationals game in Washington, DC. There will be no Phillies TV for the 1:20 p.m. game. The game will be heard on WPHT 1210 AM and the Phillies radio network. No TVThe Marlins' April 22 postponed game has been rescheduled as part of a day/night doubleheader on Sunday, July 30. Game time will be 7:35 p.m. The regularly-scheduled afternoon game on that date will begin at 1:35 (UPN57). The 7:35 p.m. game will not be televised (exclusive ESPN Sunday Night time slot). It will be heard on WPHT 1210 AM and the Phillies radio network. This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.
More info: http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.co...ent_id=1495489&vkey=pr_phi&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi I would like to know why is FOX making this decision not to air This saturday's game?

Julius, that is a good question. It's odd that a Phillies road game will not be televised in the Phillies viewing area. I could understand if it was a home game, but an away game not on TV? Couldn't Comcast Sports Net or WPSG pick up the MASN feed of the game? Who cares if it would be the Nationals play-by-play guys? At least, the Philadelphia area would be able to see the game.

Well, Shawn, it's not even an issue of the Phillies TV network not picking up the game. The Nationals' TV network can't air it either.FOX's baseball contract calls for exclusive rights to baseball on TV when they do Saturday Game of the Week coverage. And on Saturday, they chose 4 games, none of which happened to be Phils/Nats. Thus, radio-only.

The only way the game saturday could have been aired on local TV in Philly and DC is if the Nationals changed the start time of the game so there can be local TV broadcasts for both teams but the team decided not to move the time and the game is still at 1:20 PM EDT Saturday. Fox has an exclusivity period in the 1 p.m. EDT window.

Here they are:
1 p.m. Cleveland Indians at Chicago White Sox1 p.m. Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox1 p.m. Oakland A's at New York Yankees (Game WTXF-TV 29 will air in Philly)4 p.m. Atlanta Braves at Houston Astros ALL TIMES EASTERN
I Guess FOX didn't want five games this week or they replaced the Phillies/nats game with a diffrent game that FOX will air instead to make up the 4 games FOX will air. BTW if anyone wants to contact FOX 29 and let them know how angry you are at FOX for not airing the game: http://www.fox29.com/inside/index.shtml
