2 Strange Happenings?

I turn on my SONY HD-Radio to look for any E-Skip--and
while there is none, I found 2 weird items.
First KLOS HD is off-and-they are running the Dodgers game along with
790.
Then I hear a promo on 96.3 "Latino is gone, listen this
Thursday at 6-AM"
Will this finally be that Harvey Levin All-News?

96.3? Hmmm...maybe they will just stop speaking English or something. I don't see why they would flip when they don't even know what their ratings were due to the SBS/Arbitron spat?

I won't be surprised if 96.3 flips, that station is a mess anyway. Though, lets see what happens this Thursday.

Yes, that was strange hearing the Dodger KABC simulcast on the FM. But the internet stream was still rockin'. Makes you realize how badly AM sound quality has deteriorated.

The best format change I've experienced was when Energy 92.7/101.1 announced they were changing and did a countdown of all the top hits they played since they signed on and took callers and shared memories and stories right up to the very last minute. Then after the last song they had various promos that indicated it may be country, hip hop, or turn into the old Y95 from back in 1991 and stuff. They came back as Classic Hip Hop the following Monday after signing off on Halloween at 5pm. At least the listeners got closure.

I'm sorry I missed KLOS playing something other than the same 12 songs by the same 10 artists. I recently replaced the alternator in my vehicle and was able to set the clock to within 3 minutes based on what KLOS was playing. That's really sad when you can set a clock to the stations playlist. I have a friend of mine who moved to Utah 5 years ago. He came out for a brief visit recently, listened to KLOS for 20 minutes and said "They're playing the same songs as when I left."

That's sad.

I know I am reaching, but I will throw it out there...

Could The Dodgers simulcast on KLOS be the slow beginning of a KABC-FM?

These things begin this way... at KFWB the change began the same way with NFL games and infomercials slowly creeping in and overtime 980 is the station it is today.

With the demographics being what they are in Southern California I cannot imagine a canned classic rock station in L.A. is going to last much longer.

Tomorrow's the big day over at Latino 96.3.
Anyone want to keep an eye on what's going on at 6AM for us snooze birds? :)

They've already said no format change or name change... so something related to a morning show or promotion

When did they say that? I'm sorry, I just don't see how a station saying the liner "Latino is gone, tune in this Thursday at 6 a.m." is related to a promotion when a lot of the listening audience won't be awake to hear it. What morning show have you heard start on a Thursday at 6 a.m.?! Don't most format changes occur on Thursdays'? I'll be the very first to eat raw, uncooked crow if I am wrong!

Why would Citadel want to simulcast a station that has no direction on the FM dial? KLOS ratings have been excellent for a little while now! Although, I am suprised KLOS doesn't simulcast Dodger games more often.

Why would Citadel want to flip their best classic rocker? I actually happen to like this station. We all know KFI is the biggest leader in news/talk in LA, a simulcast of KABC would be useless. Besides, its are only classic rocker and a good one to say the least. 101.5 KGB from San Diego can't be heard loud and clear UNLESS a tropo occurs when all the SD stations can be heard in the area, and 101.5 FM cans completely taken over by the Spanish pirate (or LPFM) on the weekends.

Are you providing the Crow? They've moved Roq-c to mornings.

Didn't it kind of make sense since they haven't had a real morning show AND morning shows start at 6.
