20/20 Hindsight (For Better or Worse)

someone earlier brought up Alice. I too used to enjoy that show when it first aired but I not really a fan of that show now. On the flip side, I couldn't stand Gimmie A Break back then ( early 80s ) but recently I caught some of the shows on DVD and now I am a fan.

Hogans Heroes & Dennis The Menace....fan of both of those shows. However over the years I have met many who were "former fans". When Bob Crane was murdered and it was discovered he was into making homemade porn, well it made watching reruns of Hogan more difficult for many. Dittos with Dennis the Menace, that show somewhat suffered when Jay North started doing the talk show circuit in the 90s talking about his abuse when he was on that show. Come to think of it I believe there was a time in the 80s and early 90s when Dennis The Menace was one of Nickelodeon's top shows, but once North started telling about the abuse, it wasn't long until Nickelodeon pulled that show from the schedule. Can't say there was a connection between the two or not though.

I'd like to see the early My Three Sons episodes (from the ABC days)when Tim Considine was Mike, the oldest brother, Ernie was the next door neighbor and William Frawley played Uncle Bub. I remember the early shows as being much better than the CBS Uncle Charlie days.

In the late 60s, Carol Burnett had a regular skit that was a send-up on the soaps - called "As the Stomach Turns," I think. It included purposely missed cues, out of place special effects, falling boom mikes, etc.
"As The Stomach Turns"...Typical moment there would involve a character saying, "I'll get it", followed by either the doorbell or phone ringing. Funny, and not too far from the way the soaps were when done live.

When "Welcome Back, Kotter" first aired, I thought it was the shiz, but whenever I see it now, I have a major Dierks Bentley moment (What Was I Thinkin'?)

I had precisely the opposite reaction to Kotter. As a fifth grader I thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen.
When I see it in reruns today I just can't see what all the fuss was about.
