$20.5 MILLION for WSNR and WWZN

The price has been announced.... $20 & half million for the two stations; WSNR-620-NYC and WWZN-1510-Boston. One would think that WSNR would have fetched $20.5 million, or even more. Does that mean 1510 was thrown in as a bennie? - Hey, maybe WSNR's price was $25 million, and 1510 brought it DOWN to $20.5 for the two!

And now they're announcing that the format will stay sports. After paying all that $$ for the two
stations, is this a wise move? Weird...maybe they're making money after all despite no-shows in
the ratings.

"Never mind..."

WSNR has a terrible signal that basically covers Brooklyn during the day (which is why it is Russian during the day). Plus, WSNR has to move its antenna array as part of the Meadowlands redevelopment -- a cost that the buyer will most likely have to pick up.

Exactly right AND, a couple of years ago, WSNR filed an application for 15 kW DA-2 from a new seven-tower site very near WBBR 1130. WBBR, which is owned by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, has been fighting WSNR's application tooth and nail. So far, WBBR has been successful and has managed to prevent any FCC action on WSNR's application. Unless something can be done, WSNR will be forced to go dark. This is something like WSNR's fourth or fifth proposal for a new site! The station is INCREDIBLY hemmed in in all directions--particularly by day but also at night. If WSNR is forced to go dark, Davidson will have paid $20.5 million for WWZN alone. I wonder whether the terms of sale require Paul Allen to make a partial refund of the sale price if WSNR has to go dark permanently.
