20 Years for Kent and Alan???

Saw a notice that Kent and Alan were celebrating their 20th year on the air in Seattle and are the longest running morning show on the same station. I thought that honor belonged to Bob Rivers. Both shows are old and need to go, but you got to give the old boys props for stayin around that long. Hard to do in the business. I was not around years ago, were Kent and Alan the big top fourty DJ's of days gone by? I wonder why they don't move to KRWM or Oldies? Heard they were together in Eugene too before coming to Seattle.

I believe they started in Portland, but am not sure. Bob Rivers, Kent and Alan and Ichabod get pretty good beatings on this board, but all three talent do pretty well in their respective ratings despite attacks from competitors. Bob Rivers held up under attack from Stern, Ichabod is doing well against WOLF and Kent and Alan just outlived KLSY, a long-time battle. I believe Ichabod has been here longer, but has moved around to several stations. Bob Rivers also moved stations, but I think Kent and Alan were here before him. To stay at one station for that long is pretty amazing these days. Kudo's to the "old guys" and may they have 20 more. Any favorite bits over the years? I remember the Roller Coaster Wedding and as a kid I remember they tried to move the Space Needle, caused quite an uproar. I was 15.

Rivers has only been @ KZOK since 2000...and he's only been in the market since '89 or so...Ichabod has got to be second..he was at KMPS from '83 to '93 and then from '98 on (even though it's not continuous).

Ichabod's gotta be not #2, but #1, IF we're talking non continous time on Seattle radio. He was on KJR in early 1977. Nearly, count 'em, 30 years ago! Heck it could even be continuous. Just don't know where he was after KJR and before KMPS. (Maybe KOL-AM, KMPS' format predecessor??) As far as non jocks, how about Don Riggs, KMPS' news guy. He's been around a long long time!

Icky did KRPM between two stints at KMPS and time off as well...so not continuous. Still, though, one of the best folks around. KA contuniously on the SAME station for 20 years which is longest-run for anyone on the air right now. Keep in mind, though, Larry Nelson retired at about 30 years on same station ... so record is still within grasp of being broken. We'll meet again here to compare notes in 2017.

Right on LBB....Larry Nelson did his thing on KOMO continuously from 1967-1996...that's pushing 30 years like you say. Tough to beat. As a side note and a 'who cares' note, I proudly did the same PM drive shift at a NW medium market station from 1971-1999. Close, but 'I.C.' is still going! Will indeed check with U in '17!

Congrats to Kent and Alan! You say that their show is old and "needs to go"....do you have any idea how much a heritage show is worth to a station? Operators all over the country would kill to have a 20 year heritage show made up of two very sane, quality broadcasters like Kent and Alan. Kudos to Kent and Alan and Fisher for making this happen! This is why they are both very wealthy and your resume boasts "RTB"...runs tight board.
