2007 Radio Hall Of Fame Voting Now Open

With a myriad of server problems, damnable script errors and assorted real-life interruptions cleared away (hopefully), the voting for the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame's Class of 2007 is now open.

I finally gave up on trying to get various modules to work which would allow voting for several candidates at once, while restricting voters to submitting one ballot a day. So, now, if you want to vote for someone 100 times and don't mind clicking over and over again, the system won't mind automatically tabulating them.

Please cast your vote at:

http://www.sfradiomuseum.com/hof/barhof_2007_vote.shtml

Please note that the script lists the candidates alphabetically by first name, so please review the list carefully before voting. For example, Father Miles Riley of the God Squad is on the list under "M" for "Miles," not "R" for "Riley" (or "F" for "Father," for that matter).*

The balloting ends on October 31, and the Class of 2007 will be presented during the Broadcast Legends' annual holiday celebration on December 12 in Berkeley.

Vote early, vote often...

* -- Yes, I know he's now a monsignor.

I remember hearing Don McKinnon in the mornings on KEWB in the early 60s, a station that also gave us Gary Owens, Bobby Dale and later The Real Don Steele to mention a few. Before McKinnon moved on (to L.A., where he tragically died) he left a lasting impression (both Don Imus and Robert W, Morgan's earlier years are saturated with McKinnon's absolutely infectious attitude ) as "Color Radio's" wake-up guy under program director Chuck Blore, another name that is sadly often overlooked when reflecting on our Bay Area's delightful broadcast history.

Other names from that era I recall: Buck Herring, Casey Kasem, Don Bowman.

BossRadioDJ, re "Father Miles Riley of the God Squad".

I know this is a naive question BUT ,this is not Father Harry Schlitt (now Monsignor) of the God Squad with a show biz name is it ? It's just I've known the work of "Father Harry" and corresponded with him for a number of years now, but have never heard of Father Miles Riley and an association with God Squad Productions !

As a long distance radio junkie/worker, I'm obviously not up with all the personalities and their possible nom de plumes from the Bay Area. I look forward to your reply and by the way... bless you my son. 8)

Ian,

Oh my god, you're right. We have discussed this in detail on another board, and I simply mind-furtzed.

Please disregard all references to Father Miles. I meant Father Harry.

That's a pretty good-sized dumb.
