2008 radio predictions

With about a week and a half left in '07, let's get the ball rolling on what events are predicted to happen in '08 ::)

Still pondering what mine will be, but you guys go ahead and take a head start ;D

Clear Channel will sell off additional markets including Biloxi.

Question is, who will buy this cluster?

I was thinking the same thing about 780 AM. It used to be 1590 AM or 98.7 FM that used to change the format every year. But it looks like 98.7 has settled down a little, although sometimes the ratings are not that great. Maybe the listeners are tired of hearing the same "not repeat workday" with the same songs repeated every day. but wait, its mostly soccer moms listening anyway, so maybe they like hearing touchy feely cheese all the time.

Interesting prediction...hopefully it will be an independent with strong finacing and the ability to actually program...

With that its time for my predicts (drum roll please):

WHGO climbs in the ratings taking listners from Magic, Coast and Z95

Coast 102 may start playing more than one 80s song an hour and one of the Coast Radio Groups stations becomes elgiable for a format change...but as long as Kicker stays on top, no one notices.

If $--t Channel sells Biloxi at least one, and possibly 3 stations could flip...One will go Hot AC with heavy 80s gold.

Regardless of sell 104 WBUV will flip.

Meridian still won't be the same without the Apex days Q101

And the grand finale..............

At the end of 08 Rusell and MRS will still think they have stations on the air :D

In television. Tony Mastro on WJTV will continue to cut into my favorite show with a tornado warning from Tishomingo county right when we are going to find out who done it on CSI. Every station and network will continue to clutter up my screen with pop-up ads, scrolls, weather maps and other irritants. Channel 49 will change formats 3 more times. WLBT will still forget to switch on the HD feed and we will have to watch a square analog picture for half of every program, or after they come back from a commercial.

in radio. Something will happen at Rock 93.9. I hope Its Lex and Terry, because they are stinking up morning radio. Z 106 will still be playing a Bob Segar record every hour.

Except for maybe one or two stations (just the usual suspects), everything will remain the same in Meridian. Jackson's going to get rocked in 2008, at least at night on Y101. They're getting a great night jock (no, not me... remember, I said "great" LOL)!

Here's to a great 2008. I hope it's an awesome year for all of us... I have a feeling that it will be for me. :)

Here is your lead-pipe lock prediciton for 2008:

I will not return to the Mississippi airwaves during 2008. (right about now anyone under the age of 55 is saying: "who's this fool?")

Besides, I've got at least another year before the statute of limitations runs out on that "unpleasantness" in the Delta....

Merry Christmas all, your wives, girlfriends, cattle and small home appliances are safe...........for now.
