2010 Oscars...thoughts?

I thought the opening was good with Neil Patrick Harris camping it up, and the Steve Martin-Alec Baldwin routine pretty funny overall, although some of the stars in the audience didn't appear to be enjoying it. I also enjoyed bringing all the nominated actors/actresses up at the very start. BTW, one of the few tv events that are still live in all time zones, gotta love that. More to come...

Sorry but I haven't watched any award shows in years. I personally think they run way too long, are boring, and features some people who are just full of themselves.

having two hosts did not work for American Idol, and I think it did not work here

Wow, a Dunkelman reference... Freddy with the huge post of the day! ;D

I enjoyed it but I wish they'd move the red carpet show to 7 and start at 7:30 or 8. I was so glad when they started the show at 8:30 so it wouldn't run until 12:30. I still had a hard time getting up this morning.

Could be worse. I thought Daylight Savings Time was supposed to start this weekend.

It's a shame they could only do the very detailed clips for supporting actors and actresses. By the time we got to leading actors and actresses they didn't show much.

I sure would like to see all of those short films. I say that and they're probably on cable somewhere which I won't pay for beyond the very basic package.

I agree about the hosts, but can't stand Neil Patrick Harris. He did a great job, though.

I'm lukewarm on the Martin-Baldwin hosting job. It was adequate and didn't amount to much more than their most recent hosting jobs on SNL...adequate. Neil Patrick Harris did well opening the show. He should have stayed longer.

Going a little earlier in the evening, I actually thought Barbara Walter's final Oscar Special was pretty entertaining in its look back at the last 29 years. And Sandra Bullock looked incredibly hot as usual.

And could there have been anything more fake than Sherri Shepard's and, especially, Kathy Ireland's smiles on the Red Carpet special??? Now, Kathy is hot, she's a successful businesswoman....but an interviewer she is not. She looked completely out of place and couldn't wipe that fake plastic smile off her face anytime she was onscreen trying to interview someone. Granted, how excited can you act when you ask the same three questions of each and every person:

1) Who are you wearing

2)What's your favorite moment of Oscar night?

3)What was your favorite movie this year.

Neil Patrick Harris...his recent past and near future could include major award show hosting jobs. In fact, I wouldn't rule out host of next years Oscars.

I wonder if WABC is going to rebroadcast this special, since New York viewers with Cablevision were not able to watch it. You know, amid all the hoopla of Cablevision customers missing the Oscars, nary a word about them missing Baba Wawa's final pre-Oscar show.

Thanks to Ohio Edison, my neighborhood lost power about 10 minutes before the Oscars started and didn't get it back till a half hour after the show started. After watching what was left of it, I don't know whether to thank them or be ticked off. It was a poorly directed crapfest.

Incidentally, do you know what the name of New York City's energy utility is?

Con Edison.

Go figure. ;D

The only award show I care to watch were the MTV Music Video Awards. At least they were somewhat interesting to watch. The rest I avoid for the same reasons that this person has already stated.
