2012 DXing reports

Hey guys. I wanted to make this topic for this year inDXing. I love when tropo starts to happen and last night was very good. I heard stations I have never heard before. I heard rock 93.5 from panama city and country on 93.3 which I think is the classic country station in Tally.. I also heard 94.9 from talahassee which I have never heard here in Altamonte before. There was a lot of stations playing classical music last night in the 88 to 89 range and some on the 90 range as well. There were 2 of them overpowering both WPRK 91.5 and WUCF 89.9. Again I got no ideas because quite frankly I could not listen that long. I was just too excited to see what else was on the band. LOL. I also heard 88.5 from ST. Augustine which I have never heard in Altamonte as well. Last night was so much fun and I hope tonight is just as fun. I was up until 3 AM. I had no idea it was that late. That's how much fun I was having. I have not dxed like that in years and last night reminded me why I bought that pl-390. That radio is awesome. It was able to get 88.5 from ST Augustine even with z 88.3 on the next freq. Plus 105.5 from St. augustine was blasting in as well.

I live in south FL, and I too am hoping for good stuff tonight. I will be at my job tonight, but I will be setting the VCR & converter box to RF channel 9 (hoping maybe for Gainesville or beyond). My newest DTV I caught this morning---WKME-CD 31 (RF 15) in Kissimmee, near austingrace.

Also, Cuban TV was in, in addition to Cuban FM---it was my best ever reception of Havana's COCO/CMCK 91.7 & also Radio Mayabeque on 104.7 (with RDS).

There are thunderstorms forecast for Thursday here, sure to put the kibosh on Tropo....

Man, the band has not been all that open. It sucks for sure. :( Sure I had country on 107.1 last night which I've had before. That's from fort mires if I'm right which I'm pretty sure I am but that's about it. I think last night was favoring tampa a lot. That other night was the best DXing I had seen in quite some time. DXing is a lot of fun though. I guess now my DXing expectations are pretty high. I'd like another night where the band is wide open again. I know it will come again soon.

Late last night was Cuban TV despite the antenna pointed to Orlando----also 105.3 in Camaguey, Cuba (a frequency I rarely check!) for the first time here; but it rained a little this morning. I was right, sad to say. All gone for now.
