2013 NFL Television Schedule

Not every team gets to play on Monday's and they should get to every year same with Thursday's and Sunday Nights. Same with Sunday Night Baseball.

Not enough weeks in the season for every team to play on Mondays. Every team gets at least one prime-time game, when the three prime-time packages are added together.

Playing on "Monday Night Football" doesn't mean nearly as much as ESPN and the NFL would have you to believe. The big game of the week in now the "Sunday Night Football" game on NBC. Not everybody has cable, so not every gets the Thursday night game on The NFL Network or Monday Night Football on ESPN unless your home team is playing, then it is aired on one of the local stations. When the Titans played on Monday night last season against the Jets, I heard several people in Nashville mention that they didn't know the NFL still played games on Monday night.

But last season, "NFL Monday Night Football" on ESPN often outdrew most broadcast-network shows in it's time period.

In fact, I think "Dancing With The Stars" was the only broadcast-network show to beat "MNF".

And if the NFL Network ever gets the kind of circulation that ESPN does, "NFL Thursday Night Football" would probably draw more viewers than any of the broadcast networks' Thursday night programs.

While the "Bleacher Report" article linked at the top of this thread said the game between Denver and New England on November 24th was "the game of the year", it also is the final "NFL Sunday Night Football" broadcast of the November "sweeps". Knowing that New England would host Denver in 2013, I'm not surprised it's a Sunday night during sweeps.

I think the Bleacher Report is wrong about Week 17: There will be an "SNF" game on December 29th, but the league won't decide until a week beforehand which game will be moved from afternoon to prime-time. The idea is to have a big game that will have implications for playoffs, division title, a first-round bye, or a top seed.

Don't forget the latter weeks (Week 11 on) of SNF are not set in stone, either, thanks to the "Flexgame" provision where NBC can request a swap-out if the previously announced SNF matchup involves two sucky teams (i.e. both are out of contention). Usually guarantees the Peacock a good matchup, rewards teams for doing well, but sometimes drives ticket holders crazy.

The NFL has NOT been very good to The Defending Super Bowl Champs Baltimore Ravens; The Ravens MUST play The Broncos in Denver on Opening Night, While the Orioles have the top priority to play a home game over at neighboring ballpark Camden Yards-Where it shares the parking lot with M&T Bank Stadium, Which is The Ravens' home field. The next Ravens' prime time game is against The Steelers-and that is on Thanksgiving Night in Baltimore.

Honestly the O's game should be rescheduled for the following day (Or the previous day if it's the end of a series) so the Ravens can get the lot all to themselves. Afterall THEY are the ones with the hardware

This is coming from a BRONCOS FAN

Can ANYONE remember what The O's did anything to deserve being home that night? My mind draws A BLANK

Cheers & 73 ;D

The 2013 Major League Baseball schedule was drawn up months before Super Bowl XLVII was played.

The NFL reportedly gave brief consideration to have the Baltimore Ravens open the season at home against New England on Wednesday night September 4th, but it was pointed out that Rosh Hassanah (the start of the Jewish New Year) starts at sunset on that date, and that both Baltimore and Boston have large Jewish communities.

So the league decided instead to send Baltimore on the road, and have their opening game in Denver be the first game of the NFL season.

This way, as has been the case for several years, the defending Super Bowl champions will play the first game of the following season.

I've checked The O's schedule for September 5th, And they did penciled in a date for a home game against The White Sox over at Camden Yards, and it does leave out The Ravens because if both teams play simultaneously, it could be traffic headaches going into the parking lot, and a whole lot of trouble; And to save all the trouble, The White Sox happens to be the first of four games to be played over that weekend here at Camden Yards.

and even if the teams out of contention, they might still stay on if they're a big name team (Cowboys)
