2014 Preseason Football Preemptions

WJTC-TV also had professional football programming in the Mobile, Alabama-Pensacola, Florida TV market this past Friday like WPMI-TV (see my first message on the first page), except it did not pre-empt any network programs like WPMI-TV's professional football programming since WJTC-TV usually had the same primetime programs from Monday through Friday due to their status as an "independent station", meaning they were not bound to a major provider of network programming like NBC.

As for the specific programs WJTC-TV pre-empted this past Friday, they included local news programs from WPMI-TV (WJTC-TV and WPMI-TV operate from the same building as part of the same company: the Sinclair Broadcast Group), "Sanford & Son", "The Jeffersons", "Judge Judy", and "The Simpsons".

and NBC is out Saturday for GB-TEN.
I don't really consider pre-emptions on Saturday night to be "pre-emptions," given that the networks have basically given up on Saturday evening programming, anyway. Do the networks really care if the local affiliates choose to air their own programming on Saturday nights, particularly if it might be something more favorable to local viewers anyway?

^They were still pre-emptions based on one of the meanings of the word "pre-empt" in the Internet dictionary from the company Merriam-Webster.

they actually showed it on WeatherNation (11-2) at normal time....in glorious (youtube quality) 480i
True, but that info wasn't on my online listings provided by my cable provider or KARE's website.

I don't say that to bust unclehonkey's chops. I mention that to suggest the station did a poor job of updating listings. The game was scheduled a few months ago.

There will be no pre-emption of network programming this week in Northern Michigan as the Lions preseason game doesn't start until 10pm and is on the local FOX station (WFQX)

If a show I really wanted to see got bumped, I'd catch it on OnDemand.
If it's online I can do that at the downtown library. I won't go into what my problem is seeing TV shows at home.

Dean Cain's illusionists and "Whose Line" got moved. "Penn and Teller" might have been but TiVo doesn't tape shows that aied twice in one week unless you tell them to. The station may not have aired them again.

In Nashville on Friday (8/15), WTVF is preempting reruns of CSI and Hawaii Five-0 for the Paul Reiser movie The Thing About My Folks. At the same time, ABC programming is bumped from WKRN for a Titans-Saints preseason game.

I saw that Paul Reiser movie which is actually a Peter Falk movie. I read some comments and Falk dominates that movie and some say he should have won an award. The movie is that good.

they never update the listings for weathernation (11-2)....not even during the olympics when they had the syndicated programming on there

next week in Duluth WDIO (10 ABC) is moving the NASCAR race to its MeTV subchannel as they have the rights to the Vikes games

KCYU-LP/KFFX-TV in Yakima Tri Cities has moved Bones and MasterChef to 11:05-1:05AM tonight due to the Seahawks preseason game - they won 41-14 over the San Diego Chargers. The NFL game was fed from KCPQ-TV in Seattle. Fox does not air these preseason games.

WTNH-TV (ABC) channel 8 of New Haven (Hartford/New Haven TV market) carried the Eagles vs Patriots pre-season game, produced by WBZ-TV (CBS) channel 4 of Boston. Pre-empted programming included:

Wheel Of Fortune at 7:30 PM ET
Wipeout! at 8 PM ET
Shark Tank at 9 PM ET
20/20 at 10 PM ET (possibly joined in progress, so I'm not sure. I hate the Patriots with a passion, so I never tuned in.)

I had to check the listings of ABC from a "neutral" TV market (i.e. Johnstown/Altoona, PA) for the ABC listings. Besides WTNH-TV channel 8 here, the game was also on ABC in Philadelphia (WPVI-TV channel 6, who produced the Eagles side of the broadcast) and in Portland/Poland/Spring, ME (with WMTW-TV channel 8 airing it there).

WTNH had to carry the Eagles Vs. Patriots game because their sister station MY TV 9 (WCTX 59.1) was carrying a Connecticut Sun WNBA basketball game.

P.S. #1: I don't know if it's been on non-stop (year after year), but I remember WCTX carrying the Pre-Season Patriots games going back to when they were WB 59 WBNE and they carrying the games on a tape delay.

P.S. #2: The broadcast rights of the Connecticut Sun WNBA basketball games are strange this year. Some of the games are on MY TV 9 while others are on CPTV Sports (Which is 24.3, 49.3, 53.3, and 65.3)

Part of the article to which I linked in my previous message was corrected; not the part about WPMI-TV's pre-emption, but the part about a certain anniversary about a certain tropical cyclone.
