2016 On-screen network logo bug changes

I'm not sure if this has been already discussed this year, but I noticed earlier this week, or sometime earlier this month, that on some network TV programs, a network logo bug is outside of the 4:3 safe area.
In this case, ABC, and ABC station bugs that appear in a show's opening, and after returning from commercial breaks.

A similarity with the NBC logo bug on some network programs earlier in March. I'm not sure why the changes were made.

FOX moved their network bug outside the safe area about 6 years ago.

CBS did it at the start of last season.

So I guess NBC and ABC are playing catch-up.

Guess they decided the SD 4x3 age was over. Heck, DirecTV is switching to HD-only in 2019, this is just the beginning of the end for SD.

I stayed in a motel this week and didn't have a list of channels, so it was a problem if I didn't have a bug telling me what channel I was on. I remembered FX was on 32 but had to search to find Disney.

Yes, I watched a squeaky-clean Disney movie one night and "Neighbors" the next night, with very little effort to censor.
