Update

UPDATED at 10:44 a.m. PT: The 2017 Emmys were approximately even with last year’s all-time low in total viewers. Sunday’s awards ceremony averaged 11.4 million viewers, compared to 2016’s 11.3 million. The telecast also averaged a 2.5 rating in adults 18-49, dropping below last year’s low point of a 2.8.

Previously:

The Emmys are on track for a new all-time ratings low, according to Nielsen overnight data from Sunday.

The CBS telecast is currently averaging a 2.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 9.6 million total viewers in the fast-national ratings. It should be noted, however, that these numbers are not time-zone adjusted, as the Emmys aired live at 5 p.m. on the West Coast. Therefore, the numbers will be subject to adjustment later today. Last year, the ceremony drew a 2.5 and 9.7 million viewers in the fast-nationals, but eventually adjusted up to a 2.8 and 11.3 million viewers. Last year’s ceremony on ABC was itself down from a 3.6 and 11.9 million viewers in 2015 when the Emmys aired on Fox. The telecast also drew an 8.2 rating in metered markets, down from an 8.4 last year. In addition, multiple markets in Florida are still catching up on reporting their results due to damage caused by Hurricane Irma.

Only two shows out of the 26 listed winners air on 'The Big 4' in prime time.('This Is Us' and 'The Voice'), which means, along with 'SNL's 4 wins to prop up NBC's total, ABC, CBS, and Fox won spit.

Overall, I enjoyed watching it, and Colbert told a lot of funny jokes.

I hate that only a few shows I can actually watch were eligible. You can't just pay for some cable channels. I haven't been able to justify an additional expense for any streaming services, though my Internet IS faster at home now and that would make it easier. Even worse, almost no clips with audio. There was a lot of time wasted on ridiculous stuff and not enough time spent showing us what was actually being honored.

And that announcer who told us how many awards each person has won and what was coming up--he needs to go and never come back to any serious awards show. Put him on the MTV or Billboard awards or the Teen Choice show.
