2017 Expectations

Anybody anticipate major radio changes for Orlando?

- MIX's slide, new morning show possibly?
- Jim Phillips is pushing 70 ... new 104.1 PM show?
- Another country station, or maybe one less?
- Continuing with 3 low or "no" rated sports stations?

MIX has been sliding ever since Erica Lee was let go.

Its weird because 740 The Game is the established Sports station there, yet, their ratings are lower than the recent established 580 ESPN Orlando.

I wonder if WDBO-FM will take the WPTF/WPTK route of years ago by having mostly all-news on WDBO-FM and all talk on another station. I doubt it but hey... the area has News 13 and its successful. It can be done if it could.

All news is expensive to produce as you need a very large news staff although in the back of my mind I sort of thought Cox may take WDBO-AM the "All News" route when the news-talk format moved to FM. I thought the same thing in Jacksonville when Cox blew up WFYV in favor of a WOKV simulcast, however, WOKV is still in simulcast mode and ESPN Sports is the least expensive for WDBO-AM compared to all news. Even all news stations in Boston and other areas are beginning to offer all news part-time, usually daytime hours, with other programming at night such as syndicated sports programming. It still would be nice to see a true all news outlet come to Central Florida.

Look or should I say listen for WOCL to continue to phase out the 70's songs and add more 90's & 2K into their small playlist.

Station management and ownership in far too many cases will accept and go along with on air execution problems. On air staff will refer to these problems as "technical problems" thus blaming the engineering staff or chief engineer. These problems will continue to be acceptable with little or no effort being taken to solve them once and for all because a quality product mindset is non existent.

I can also see 102 Jamz to come back, with a mix of current Rhythmic Top 40 music and (maybe) Classic Hip Hop, as CBS Radio is merging with Entercom.
