2025 Prediction Thread

Gooner [...] get fired

No WAY! He's GOING NATIONAL, BAYYYYBEEEEEEE!

2. Howie retires.

Not until the Mail Room Manager squeezes every dime out of that gravy train. Howie could be on life support or in an iron lung and rest assured he'd still be on the air.

They're not in the Top 10 because they're good, they're in the Top 10 because everyone is old.

Hey! I resemble that remark! Where else am I going to learn where to buy my incontinence and boner pill products?

106.1 is an FM translator of AM 1330 WRCA. It has to simulcast WRCA by FCC regulations.

If Beasley decides to do something different besides rock with 1330 AM WRCA, then 106.1 FM would no longer be a rock station.
106.1 isn't bonded to WRCA. It can be changed now to another signal, i.e. 92.9 HD2. So Beasley could do something with 1330 and file to change 106.1's primary over to the 92.9 HD2 instead.

That’s true, if they want to go through all the bother to do so, but that wouldn’t honor the “prediction” of the OP that 106.1 will no longer be a rock station, unless they decide to change the format of 92.9 HD2.

And, in that case, if they also decide to change the format of 1330, it would be a standalone AM with no translator.

This suggestion indicates that you know nothing about Jam'n or their audience.

Okay, sure.

Entirely plausible.

They could do that, and Magic wouldn't lose even a tenth of a point from their share.

I mean, HOT 96.9 is coming up on its 12th anniversary. Have you been in a coma?
Hot 96.9 isn’t classic hip hop. They just add in Throwbacks. Magic might not lose much but it might help the Bull slightly. These are just opinions. Also, just for your information, I have never been in a coma.

Throwbacks are the vast majority of their playlist.

Most stations in 2024 share Recently Played lists on their websites. You're welcome to read them before making your arguments.
I have read them and there are plenty of currents. I’m suggesting room for an ALL classic hip hop format.

I count one current and three recurrents among 28 titles played in two hours. Even if I generously consider that to be four "currents", that's 14% currents. Is that your definition of "plenty?"

"Just because someone turns thirty doesn't mean they want to listen to oldies." - Sunny Joe White

HOT researches the music incredibly well, led by their PD, who has a math degree from Duke. On top of that, they have a first-in-class morning show with beloved heritage personalities. To launch against that by simply copying their music without the currents and without the morning show would be to light money on fire.
