Many, if not most, stations operate this way, which is why the exception is especially boring. Then again, there are stations that do image every other song that are just as boring for whatever reason. There's a station in Lewiston ID that NEVER plays two songs back to back. There are always constant IDs and sweepers. Great for DXers, maybe not for the Average Joe. The station in question is KZID 98.5 "K-HITS", classic hits.
Seems like there's always some of those, but outside of Audacy, I think there will be fewer of those this year than we saw in 2024.About the only real news that could shake things up is more corporate layoffs, which seem to occur each year, affecting Seattle as well as the rest of the country's radio markets. I suppose that could happen and affect programming here and there on the Seattle radio dial.
I love how these discussions always seem to devolve down to "what I would do if I was the program director" or "here's what I think they should be playing that they are not". The actual professionals on this board know just how ridiculous that kind of conversation is. That ain't where the money is and at the end of the day it's about that.
And Kokomo Klock is reset for yet another year. It's a tradition unlike any other...The question nobody is asking: Which station will feature Kokomo on its playlist??
