2026 prediction thread.

Four months late to the party, but I would not be surprised if before the end of 2026, there will be at least one instance--and it will gain national attention--of something going viral from a disgruntled hotel guest which leaves a very nasty review online--or even screams at hotel staff on video--for a hotel which has gone streaming apps only for "TV." No cable, no OTA--just the apps--which you have to log into with your own accounts to access.

Not something the non-radio/TV geek public (the other 99 percent) would ever complain about or care enough about. It would never go viral, except maybe on message boards like this, and then only among people like yourself who apparently pay much more attention to hotel TV than most.

One other thing to consider, many seniors travel, and many of them would not be adept enough with technology to jump through all those hoops. Moreover, they just want to get their major networks, the shows they're used to watching at home, and would have a hard time understanding why the network affiliates in that area aren't available. My parents once found a hotel TV so daunting (it wasn't streaming-only, just a complicated cable or MATV setup) that they just gave up. All they wanted to do, was to get Wheel of Fortune and other shows they were used to. If I had been with them, I could have helped them, but I wasn't. As they would always say, they just wanted to get "3, 8, and 13" (the three major network affiliates in the Charleston-Huntington WV market from back in the day).
