24/7 Comedy Coming To Raleigh/Durham - But Where?!

I'm interested to hear the imaging on these comedy stations....wondering if they go after the Sirius XM style

These stations seem to be popping up elsewhere across the country as well. I give credit for new ideas, interested to hear this.....

The format itself is not necessarily a "new idea":

I meant in the Triangle/Triad market....all the other ideas for stations have been flip to oldies....Going back to a radio format that was popular 40 years ago to aid a dying breed of listeners just begging for ANYONE to listen doesn't seem like a formula for success in the future.

Agreed - you can only go back to the oldies well so many times... But with conventional AM talk radio migrating to FM in both of these markets, maybe there's room for an additional spoken word option - many of these markets with a comedy station happen to have an FM talk station, as well.

I agree back!

I like the idea of having a comedy station and more interactive talk radio instead of just Republican Good/Democrat Bad....I have been really listening to a lot of different entertainment/comedy/center driven political talk on SiriusXM and it's excellent. Even the shows that aren't that great and the people aren't talented, it's just refreshing to hear interesting talk radio.

The Radio Insight article says 400 watts at night, but it's actually going to be 40 watts, versus the 52 watts they had from the Maywood Avenue site. The daytime power stays the same, 1,000 watts.
