29th anniversary

September 1, 1980 was the day WSB Atlanta completed its affiliation swap to ABC. WXIA became "Atlanta's Proud New Tradition" as the NBC affiliate.

You would bring that up. This is one ex-Atlanta viewer
who's never been happy with Channel 2 as an ABC affiliate,
and (especially now) with Channel 11 as an NBC one; 11 has
been hit badly by NBC's poor ratings of late and sometimes
falls into fourth place. Problem is, NBC has no easy way out;
they're stuck with 11 until 2015 at the earliest, whereas in 1980
affiliation contracts were for two years instead of ten.

BTW, Channel 11 has been with NBC as long as it was with ABC,
having spent its first 29 years (1951-80) with the latter network.
