Got two 50kw FM's that are shortspaced, about 40 miles apart from one another...2nd adjacent. If one of them goes HD, what damage can one expect to the coverage/listenability to the non-HD station in the "market", in question?

You should have no troubles. In Chicago they have a 96.9 and a 97.1. You get both without issue. Though it seems like y ou can only get one or the other in HD at one time, depending where you are.

1st adjacent can be a problem but on any decent receiver 2nd will be fine. I've heard thru the grapevine some really cheap radios will have problems but have no firsthand experience of that. Here in Nashville we have an IBOC station on 102.5 w/xmtr 30mi. west of town; it has a translator on 102.1 in town & a co-owned 102.9 about 30mi. south of town. 102.5 IBOC doesn;t trash any of it.(I do fear the day 100.3 in Hopkinsville lights up IBOC & WRLT 100.1 disappears...)
Has Anyone actually heard WCBS-FM and WBEB since the are both operating their digital signals now? talk about the good old grandfathered shortspacing on 101.1 of 90 miles in analog well digital doesnt fare any better either.
