November 3, 1986: I remember WTOP reporter Jamie McIntyre -- later CNN's Pentagon correspondent -- showed up with one of those old hold-on-your-shoulder VHS cameras.
He just sent me this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh5Adiv1OS0
3 ex-WPRO voices you'll spot:
1. Yours truly, LONG before I "went blonde."
2. The late Frank Daly, delivering a sportscast. Frank was WPRO's News Director in the late 70s; and he got to WTOP a couple years before I did. He was the play-by-play voice of the NBA Washington Bullets (now the Wizards), which we flagshipped.
3. And there's a quick clip of our midday anchor Pam Coulter, now heard on WPRO anchoring and reporting in ABC Radio Network newscasts.
At the time, WTOP was owned by Providence-based Outlet Broadcasting.
111 Dorrance Street was "the home office."
100 years ago, and it seems like yesterday.
