3 Jacks in Indianapolis?

Someone pointed out on the (cough, cough) "other" board that there are three (!) Jacks in Indianapolis now.

WJJK-FM/Jack(104.5) the former WGLD Oldies,
WLHK-FM/Hank(97.1) the former WENS Hot AC
WTPI-FM (107.9) now The Track.

Isn't that kinda overkill?

Also, anyone know anything about them and how they differ?

Hang on there pal! You consider Hank FM as a Jack? What non-country do they play because everytime I'm in the area, it sounds like 95.5 The Wolf down here in Nashville, but with more country.

The only similarity is that they are all Jockless and have the "attitude" liners. Jack is...Jack. Track is Jack but without the trainwreck of back-to-back songs and a narrower playlist. And Hank is "Anything Country".

Re: 97.1 HANK-FM.... They are not 100% jockless. They do have the Wank and O'Brien morning show (who have previously been on active/alternative WRZX and Hank sister station CHR WNOU). Plus they also have on-air people to backsell song sets, but I guess that's open to debate on whether that counts as on-air talent. Your mileage may vary on that point.

From what I hear on Hank when scanning the dial, it is a mix of classic and modern country songs with some "country leaning" songs from Bonnie Raitt, Eagles, Jimmy Buffett, etc. I have never heard anything on Hank by artists most would consider non-country like Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, etc. that The Wolf seems to include in their playlist.

Hank is a country station. The Track is a classic hits station with a broader range of music than more classic hits stations (but to call it "Adult Hits" in the meaning of "Variety Hits" is a misnomer, in my opinion). Jack is Variety Hits.

They've got their own web page and E-mail addresses and are called "Hank's Buddies." I'd say they're on-air talent (and they're following the profile of the Denver Jack, which seems to have just quick-in-quick-out backsellers).
