Any thoughts on Chuck's increased role during the game broadcast Saturday night? Is he being groomed to take over Paul's spot sooner than later?

> god i hope not....still think it needs to be someone like sully or ray tucker...personally...i hope paul has at least a couple of years left in him....

Chuck lacks a few things

1) large vocabulary
2) Well modulated pipes
3) finesse or variety in delivery
4) Smoothness

Like his (more successful) brother in arms,
Rainwater, Chuck is not cut out for major
college football play-by-play. I know he
has played the political game well, but
ultimately he doesn't have the goods. Too
small time.

Chuck is one of the finest baseball announcers in the business. Why can't this carry over into football? Have you ever heard him do a football or basketball game? He is a professional in every sense of the word..... He took a call in show that was limited to two markets and made it statewide... He commands a high dollar for appearances and talent fees... So why he would be too small time to make a natural evolution into the program he has been connected to for over a decade, I don't know. Sure you could bring someone in from out of state, but there isn't anyone in broadcasting that has more passion for the program than Chuck Barrett.....

Rainwater is good... Arkansas is blessed to have two good drive time shows. May I ask though what has made him more successful?

Mogul I listened to your sports show in Fort Smith when we came up for the Southside-El Dorado game last week... Shouldn't you let people in on the fact that Chuck Barrett joins you every day for the first segment of the show as your "Razorback Insider"... Obviously you are friends with the dude or you wouldn't have pulled that off.... Plus you have filled in for him numerous times on Sportsrap... It is barely bearable with Chuck doing it much less hearing someone from a small market try to pull it off. It seems as if you are a little biased as you trumpet the accomplishments of Chuck Barrett. From what I hear the play-by-play job is Steve Sullivan's anyway....

>Obviously you are friends with the dude or you wouldn't have pulled that off....

The reason Mogul is friends with Chuck and anyone else in this state in radio is because he beats down doors, gets to know people, and shows them respect. Respect -- something that I didnt see a lot of in your post.

Chuck does a good job with baseball and his call in show is all right.
My point is that major college football play by play requires a more
polished approach. Rainwater's pm drive show is dominant in Little Rock, that was my point.

Not bashing your opinion by any means... just wondered why you thought that way... Thanks for responding.
