3 more years of Savage, Doyle on WRKO

You may have been wondering if WRKO might eventually put on some other hosts post-Howie...local? (Yeah right!) or maybe some different syndie ones. Nope, Talk Radio Network and Entercom/RKO just did a 3 yr re-up of Michael "Borders Language Culture Buy My Books" Savage and Jerry "6 Foot 4 ATM of Information" Doyle.
Savage orig airs 6-9 pm from San Fran (7-10 on RKO) and Doyle orig airs 3-6 from Vegas. WNSH runs Doyle live during those hours.

Doyle was Howie Carr's guest for 1.5 hours last week, promoting Jerry's new book.

I think Tom Finneran was officially announced as RKO morning host 3 yrs ago today and started 1 month later on 2/12/07...not sure about status of his contract (Howie made a snide remark in today's column), but the news has Tommy's disbarrment not being overturned. As for Savage, I think he started in 2002; RKO was running Hannity on a 4 hour delay and they wanted something more immediate due to fast breaking events like the DC sniper (so they said at the time). Supposedly Savage gets good ratings for them. Last yr Savage was often pushed back or pre-empted due to the Sox, but they're on WEEI full time now...even though a couple RKO promos/liners would lead you to believe they're still on 680

The TRN press release says both shows have been on RKO since 04 but I was pretty sure they went to Savage in 02 after having Hannity for a yr. Hannity would later go to 890, 96.9, and 1150. And who knows, perhaps 1200 next?

Finneran contract expires next month and no official word on it being renewed--could well be but as today's Herald points out (article by Jessica Heslam) it would probably be at a pay cut and Jason Wolfe did not comment on the contract.
