3 Things About KFYI

While waiting for the Guv's next veto, Nurse Jeff and I thought of three things we've heard on KFYI that don't make a lick of sense:

1) Donald Trumps commentary at 6:55pm...that time belongs to Crummey!

2) Joe Adams' constant indigestion ...he burps as much as John Dahl coughs!

3) That Mexican station in the background at night. Que esta pasando?

As an insider, I would like to offer a few insights...

1) Crummey thinks Trump is EEEE-VIL, but even though The Donald is the poorest rich man in the free world, he stll wields more power than The Crummey. A case in point: The Crummey has never had a condo project shot down by a city council -- anywhere...

2) Joe Adam's does not have constant idigestion...he has constant INDIGNATION. You trying doing news in this town for 30 years...

3) That's an ILLEGAL Mexican station. Let's face it - according to KFYI, Mexican illegals are the root of all EEE-VIL in this town...

Don't know about the daily show thing. I'm a little gun-shy after having the number one show 12+ in this market for almost 4 years running, the number one show on a station that was struggling and STILL getting let go.

I'm digging the reporting thing (Mike Anthony and Chick Boss are awesome to work for) and having fun on Sundays (2 to 5pm -- PLUG!). KFYI is where I started my talk career -- Laurie Cantillo believed in me early on -- so it's like coming home.

SConner, as I call him, is a trip but I like the guy. He tries a little too hard sometimes, but he's almost always entertaining. TERRIBLE dresser, though...

I actually must say I enjoy the sunday show cause for a busy guy like me, Its nice to be able to catch up on some of the weeks happenings. Also maybe I am in the younger demo but I enjoy Conner. Yeah he is a little rough around the edges and dosen't have the delivery style of a seasoned pro but he is interesting to listen to. Maybe better suited for a free fm (yeah I know i love my free fm) but its nice to see FYI took a chance on him.

Jim, caught your weekend show, good stuff, you sound like you are having fun on it, and that is cool.

They should replace the sawed off arrogant Mr. Komando with you.

I like Conner, he spontaeously bursts out laughing, for some reason that is cool, I met him once, you are right about the clothing, he looks like a couple of pimps that blew up.

Jim,

You are one of the CLASSIEST guys in the business (well, except for that UGLY Avalanche you drove for a while)! I was thrilled when you left KZON for talk radio. I enjoy listening to your news reports and show on KFYI. Keep up the good work.
 
I think anyone who has worked with Jim would agree he's a great guy. And he looks terrible in a dress. So do I for that matter.
 
Yeah, Sharpe sure does class up the joint over there at KFYI.
Chick Boss has given him the chance to morph from Rock Jock to Talker which will carry him into the future. I see good things ahead for him.

Joe Adams is a Valley institution, and harkens back to the KOY glory days.
I don't know about you, good Doctor, but I grew up with that man's voice emanating from my mom's station wagon on the way to school. He's like comfort food for my auditory system.

(I don't know if John Dayl coughs so much as he trolls for snot rockets. Disgusting to listen to while trying to choke down an Egg McMuffin)

Yes Indeedy! The Nurse and I vaguely remember the first lineup when KFYI moved from nine-10 to 5-Fifty: Jim & Heidi followed by Mohan..then Rush & Dr Borah..Goyette in PMD..then Phil Hendrie & Art Bell. First book, a 12+ tie with KT'R. All this in spite of CBS news and no Nearly Famous One on board!

Actually we questioned that decision shortly after he was awarded the 7-10pm slot. Nurse Jeff and I thought some of the other candidates who auditioned on air were better suited. But at least it's not as glaring an error as Tony Snow on KT'R. Grant Woods with the Amazing Herbie & Super Kid would have made more sense!
