3-TV blows airport incident coverage

If there's a car chase in Phoenix, 3-TV (KTVK) is usually there with Bruce Haffner and NewChopper 3. But where was 3-TV when the truck chase ended at Sky Harbor? They had provided some of the early persuit of this vehicle and ended up south of the airport using their "Elvis Cam" to follow the truck until it entered the area of Terminal 3. Then, shortly after 9am, GMAZ went off the air and the taped Your Life A to Z came on and no further coverage was provided. Both CBS-5 (KPHO) and ABC15 (KNXV) stayed on the air with their helicopters focused on the truck as it crashed through the fence, drove on the tarmac and taxiways around Southwest and America West aircraft full of passengers. They also captured the motorcycle officer making a defensive move when he thought the truck was turning towards him and watched him lay down his bike. And finally, 5 and 15 were there to see the suspect crash into the last fence and ultimately being arrested. Even CNN had to abandon a feed from 3-TV and picked up the ABC15 feed for it's live telecast.

So where was Arizona's Family? They were playing with mealworms and cockroaches.

Very unusual for Channel 3. They used to be on top of all the breaking stuff like this.
