In markets including Columbia, S.C., Lexington, Ky., Fresno, Little Rock, Montgomery, Ala. & others featuring several digital outlets. What I, & i`m sure others`re really waiting for is info on markets like Boston, Philly, Miami, Seattle & Atlanta where "My" has no clearances yet. http://tvweek.com
Edited by jellyeggs on 03/31/06 03:07 AM.

I doubt they're going to get Philly. Tribune has all but said that WPHL is going to go independent, and there are no other stations available in the market. (After the big four, the CW station-to-be, and independent-bound WPHL, the only commercial stations in the market are a PAX and a TBN, neither of which are likely to change.)

I don't hold out a lot of hope for "My" to last terribly wrong; stripped serial programming in prime time has too much going against it.

Of course, they could give their Fox O&O WTXF a secondary affiliation. Same goes for Boston's WFXT, where they still have yet to sign a "My" affiliate there (especially due to a local "myTV" (WZMY) already there).

Tribune said WPHL will be independent. But the statement was made prior to Fox's MyNetwork plans. Wait until the summer - Tribune will join aboard.

There is also
WBPH 60
WTVE 51
WMCN 44
WMGM 40
WWSI 62
that are commercial stations, still in the market, not that I think any of them would want or be able to have MyNetwork. There maybe a shot for WTVE, esp. if they could play the: we'll cover the Philadelphia and Harrisburg market card. They'd also need to somehow fill a lot of their schedule with something other than infomercials.

Clear Channel still hasn't decided on whether WLYH goes MyNetwork or The CW.

They could do that for Atlanta as well, and offer FOX 7-Miami, the arrangement. It wouldn't work for Seattle or Indianapolis: they would have to get Tribune involved. And in Sacramento too, esp. if Hearst (KQCA) doesn't apply for MyNetwork, either.

> There is also
> WBPH 60

Religious, not going to switch.

> WTVE 51

Does not cover the entire market, barely reaches Philadelphia itself.

> WMCN 44

Digital only, brokered time.

> WMGM 40

NBC affiliate, not switching.

> WWSI 62

Cape/Atlantic area of New Jersey, does not cover the entire market.

Philly, Boston, and Atlanta - remember DTV

Fox will try to affiliate My Network with full power broadcast stations in each of these market. Failing that, Fox will likely put My on a subchannel of their own O&O stations in these markets. Neither My nor CW seem to have any aversion to affiliating with secondary DTV channels in any market. The key is always cable carriage of such channels, usually through some kind of shared advertising arrangement.

Re: Philly, Boston, and Atlanta - remember DTV

If Fox ends-up having to put My TV Network on a digital channel in markets where they own the Fox affiliate (like Boston, Philadelphia, and Atlanta), I wonder if those Fox O&O's might also broadcast MTVN on their analog channels in late-night (i.e. 11 P.M. to 1 A.M. ET)??

Why put PRIME TIME programming on at hours in which viewers WILL BE ASLEEP Joe? That doesn't make sense (or $sen$e for that matter) at all.

Cheers everyone :)

You're expecting him to MAKE SENSE?

Seriously, there are probably a handful of markets where a late-night clearance of "My" (or maybe a late afternoon/early fringe one-day delay) could make sense.

Witness the number of stations that have done dual affiliations and delayed WB or UPN programming to those dayparts.
______________
