30 year radio veteran hangs up the earphones

Guest
Alex Seseske, a 30 year veteran of Pittsfield, MA radio, announced last week that he was hanging up his earphones and retiring from the business. From the report on the air, he said he worked at 1360-AM WBRK in the 70's then moved to WUPE in 1982 and has been there through thick and thin. He was morning host on WUPE for well over 22 years until being bumped to mid-days by Vox in 2004. From someone who has been in the business...HATS OFF to Mr. Seseske for 30 years of entertaining Berkshire County. Enjoy retirement.

Wow, a seasoned, experienced radio professional who lasted only a year with Vox. That almost never happens.

Now, Now! Dont' turn this into another anti-vox string!
I happen to enjoy Alex. Some consider him the MISTER ROGERS of
Berkshire county radio.
Good Luck, Alex!
Maybe his son will follow in his footsteps, who knows?!
______________

Interesting thought, but you know the problem with low radio pay is simply a matter of basic economics- supply and demand. Plus the fact that too many radio people are in it for themselves, rather than working together to try to help keep salaries up. It's really simple to blame consolidation, cheapskate owners and so on, but the fact remains that if they didn't have an ample supply of dedicated radio people willing to go to an early grave for subsistence wages, then the pay would go up. The GMs and owners won't be voicetracking 8 days a week and climbing up on the roof to scrape the ice off the satellite dish.

More then you radio guys. The Berkshire Eagle and Capitol News 9 both ran stories on Alex Seseske today (Aug 24th) Hey, 30 years is 30 YEARS but nothing stays the same. Look at Bob Steele in CT....50+ years on WTIC before he retired. Amazing. (Mr.Steel has since passed on)

1. what about my postings has anything to do with my being fired?(a. NOTHING!)
2. which vox station do YOU work for,
Because it is obvious by your responses
that this is getting personal!
I have done nothing to you!
God Bless you if you can succeed in radio(w/vox)!
I will not stop posting to this board because of
your immature outbursts towards me!
being the very mature adult that I am,
I will ask once that you cease this behavior.
Your apology is accepted in advance!
______________

Excuse me sir, I have a question. In your signature, you proclaim to equally love your kids, wife and radio. How does it feel being fired from someone you love?
