30 years of B&T

According to the Star, Thursday is 30 years on the air at Q for Bob & Tom. Amazing. Whether it's your sense of humor or not, you have to respect anyone - any team who can last 30 years in morning drive. Has anyone else ever come close to that longevity in the Indpls market?

Bernie Eagan has been with Emmis 30+ years, but not at the same station. JD Canon has done country for 30+ years but not at the same station.

J.D. came to town, left for Des Moines and then returned. I'd guess that Eric Garnes, between WIFE, WENS and WYXB, has been on-air continuously in Indianapolis longer than anyone else currently in the market.

Still I didn't make my original question clear enough. Please allow me to rephrase. Is there any one person or team who can claim 30 years in AM drive at the same station in Indianapolis? I'd say Jim Denny is the closest at this point in time. Or perhaps someone from the past like Wally Nehrling?

And who else am I forgetting for longevity in the market regardless of daypart?

Not likely too many people have lasted 30 years in AM drive in Indy. Uncle Wally began at WIRE in 1938 and stayed until 1967. That may be the closest thing to 30 years after Bob & Tom.

Good for them. Considering how much Indianapolis, and the nation have changed since 1983, their staying power is remarkable.

FACT: bob & tom have actually been off the air for 20 years, they've been playing a loop of their non-stop Laugh Track for 20 years...

That's about 29 years too many.

Well it beats the hell out of listening to some nameless button pusher or a computer jock up some song that probably isn't fit to listen to anyway. I have also noticed there is a lot of petty jealousy concerning B&T. Probably because they have survived and thrived when so many others can't even stay on the air.

B&T have never been my cup of tea, they were one of the 1st "Shock Jocks" but now, they've jumped the shark, i know several active rockers and classic rockers like Q-95 that have dropped them recently. at his age Imus has stayed on the air because he has appealed to some News/Talkers, not sure what the appeal of B&T is going forward. i will say, it is Rare for anyone to be in one place in Radio for 30 years, that is some kind of achievement, no matter what i think of the show.

To some they may have jumped the shark(Thanks for coining that Jon Hein) but I find them more listenable than Stern(who jumped the shark himself and got really boring a few years ago). It will be interesting to see where they are in ten years.

Bob & Tom started out playing music with some bits in between. At that time they were serving a younger audience. Now they're doing talk radio, as is Stern. Talk radio appeals to adults who are bored with sterile, lifeless music formats. Bob & Tom have matured with their audience, but they are probably not bringing in many new, younger listeners, who are are still more interested in banging their heads.
