30 Years of WATD

I caught Ed Perry's commentary this morning on WATD - he said they began their first full day of programming 30 years ago today.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY WATD!

Does Rob Hakala sleep? The poor guy is doing traffic nights at 'BZ and I would assume he gets up very early for 'ATD.

I was there 30 years ago DAY ONE and 3 times after that

I can remember listening to WATD when they had folk music on in the evening. I remember they'd sign off with Judy Collins' version of the Bob Dylan tune, "Farewell". 'ATD isn't so easy to hear in RI these days due to co-channel WCRI on Block Island....

Re: 30 Years of WATD - Ron Dwyer

Ron was the voice of the old WKBG-TV signon and signoff. Loved their signoff so much, I called the station, obtained the music from the signoff, and bought it at a music store. Whenever I hear Bert Kaempfert's "That Happy Feeling," I remember WKBG and Ron.

WATD truly is one of the best local stations in America...I've traveled around a bit and you can pretty much get the same station just about any city you visit (you know what I'm talking about) but WATD just always has been a very unique part of Massachusetts radio, and hopefully it always stays that way.

Big ups to Rob Hakala as well....fellow Curry College Alum.
