3th dutch soundprocessing day

BTW, the New York City FMs have been an Omnia stronghold for quite awhile now, but rumor has it that WCBS-FM switched from Omnia to Optimod (8500HD?) upon the re-debut of their Oldies/Classic Hits format.... or not even rumor -- Bob Shannon himself proclaimed it on Alan Sniffen's board.

FYI, the 8500 went in not long after the format flipped FROM Oldies to Jack.

Hey, if you're a fan of the 8200 or the original Omnia, that's fine. There is an entire industry created around audio processing devices that purposely add noise, grunge, and distortion to audio, to create a desired "effect." However, that effect does not belong on the air!

You rant against products that are long out of date, and are of no relevancy to this thread. You're just trying to cause trouble.

Anyone who lumps the original Omnia and the 8200 knows not of what s/he speaks. ???

Except in the least aggressive markets the 8200 was widely consider to sound bad due to severe aliasing distortion. I believe Omnia still may have papers about this on their site.

In fact from the time the 8200 came out until the Omnia came out the near universal appraisal of processing gurus was that digital processing might be a red herring.

This is, of course, why early Omnia marketing concentrated on "no grunge" because this is exactly what people were complaining about with the 8200. 8)

Hi all 8)

We've posted the samples from the dutch processing measurementday on www.niehoff.nl/radio

You can download 28 different tracks from 28 different processors according to the schedule on the same site(of course in a different ranking ;) ).
The clue is that the tracks are posted anonimos... so you can listen to the samples without knowing what's "processing", it's a totally objective way of " judging" the sound. In 2008 we'll place the samples with the correct names behind them ;D

Please notice that many processors can sound totally different using another preset.

The tracks posted are recordings from "standalone" processors and A - B comparisments... (two different mixes).

the setup and recording equipment is also availble in a .pdf file on the www.niehoff.nl/radio site.

Not important: We've added a little detail on the site. If you can guess which processors are used with which tracks, and mail it to the adress on the site, you can win a EV microphone!

have fun!
