3TV Forecasters Thin Bench

If by "bolstering its morning newscast" means alienating and annoying their viewers by endlessly welcoming a reporter, then I guess KNXV has won.

And, after weeks of "LET'S WELCOME HER," now we have to listen to "WELCOME! SHE'S HERE." I just want news...it's so ridiculous.

In my earlier post, I was just giving base12 (who does NOT like Kaley at all) a bad time. :)

I actually agree that Dan sounded ridiculous this morning, welcoming her back. "There been a lot of anticipation", said Dan at one point. Really, Dan, perhaps it's because YOUR employers tried to create the hype. For the three network stations, the am news is basically a 10 minutes cycle of news/weather/traffic. Then, throw in some sports and entertainment/social media stuff and REPEAT.

Watching Kaley interview Kelli Ward yesterday, with Ward singing offkey, and Kaley grooving along like it was actually good, made me want to hide under the couch in embarrassment.

So congrats, KNXV...Kaley is back in Phx & brought cringeworthy TV with her!

Exactly!!!

That type of garbage from Kaley is exactly what I have been talking about. Afterall Kaley can do anything!! Fingernails on a blackboard anyone?

After a couple of days, I have changed my mind. I think I now agree with base12. My thoughts about Kaley must have been inflated because she replaced Tara (whom I absolutely despised). Kaley is not really adding anything to ABC15 Mornings. I will continue to watch GMAZ or CBS5 This Morning.

Agreed

I didn't like Tara either. Another irritating anchor.

I like Andrea Robinson on 10 (I hope they find a way to keep her), Vanessa Ramirez on 12, Heidi on 5, and Gina on 3. They all have the great traffic reports which is the most vital thing for me in the morning. As for 15 where is the traffic? 15 would do themselves a big favor bringing back a true professional like Danielle Lerner and we don't need the irritating smart shopper either.

Yes, I find the traffic reporters pleasant as well. It's sad when I am hoping that the main anchors are off and the traffic people are anchoring. I love it when Gina gets to anchor GMAZ or Heidi gets to anchor CBS5 This Morning. In fact, on 5, it appears that they are pushing Preston away from the anchor desk and having Heidi do more anchoring with Yetta.

Is she thinking of leaving channel 10?

Both she and Syleste Rodriquez do weather, traffic and are sidekicks to Troy Hayden on the morning show. It has been a great combination (although I do miss The Old Curmudgeon Rick D'Amico).

Going back to the topic...

Due to the passing of John McCain, R.I.P., most of the news channels brought in their A teams. Including Royal Norman on Saturday night and Paul Horton on Sunday.

Yes, I noticed the same thing. Royal's presentation is very calming and soothing, perfect for a very sad Saturday evening. Overall, 3/5 did an excellent job covering the passing of Sen. John McCain all Saturday evening and during scheduled newscasts on Sunday. It really was the "power of 2", as they reminded us a number of times on Saturday evening.

Power of 2? I don't think I've ever heard of that before...

Channels 3 and 5 are now operating as a paired twin with their "personality" people appearing on both stations. I haven't noticed any increased or more in depth coverage of news stories as a result of the paired arrangement.

Sorry, should've did a LOL or something. Depending on when you watch, you'll see several The Power of 2 commercials.

I disagree. While I don't watch most evenings, 3TV has done several deeper stories. They've been replaying over the week, the time Jared Dillingham went to Vietnam and visited the former Hanoi Hilton to log a John McCain story. It was a good segment.

To me that story ranks right up there with Geraldo Rivera's "expose" of Al Capone's vault.

I disagree. And I watched Rivera's special live, mostly the last 10 minutes. I remember him with some old bottles and trying to make jokes.
