"4.3.06 The Ticket is Coming"

There are commercials on FSN West and FSN West 2 that just say "4.3.06... The Ticket is Coming"... My guess is one of the FSN's will be transformed into another network... Anyone else got any info?<P ID="signature">______________

Might it be an ad to tease the arrival of a new all-sports radio station, given that April 3rd will be about the time that the all-important Arbitron Spring radio rating book begins??

"Fox Sports" is a well-known brand, and I can't see FSW abandoning it.

That's what I've been hearing too, but I don't see the reasoning behind it though. What I did hear is that one of the two FSN West channels (possibly West 2) will take the Prime Ticket name, which the original name of FSN West. Ironically, April 3rd is the opening Monday of the Major League Baseball schedule.

These prefab brand names have been repeated before (i.e.: "The Quake" and "Star"), but there's usually at least a half decade of separation. 1050 was "The Ticket" as recently as 2 years ago. Also, what ratings would a new sports station in the Bay Area get? Miniscule, I would think.

For FSN to rebrand FSW2 as "Prime Ticket" isn't such a bad idea, really. It is, after all, the birthright of FSW. Plus, with a steady lineup of teams already airing there, it's a good chance to separate the two services in the minds of the viewer.

If that's the case, they should rebrand both channels as Prime Ticket and Prime Ticket 2. It would be make better sense, since everyone knows that the two FSN West channels are one in the same. I wouldn't be suprised if Fox decides to re-brand their RSNs with different names, according to their region (i.e. Sun Sports in Florida). Not meaning to stray off-topic, FSN, at least on the national level, is pretty much a mess, since they know that they can't truly compete with the ESPNs. I've reading for years that Rupert Murdoch wants to start a full national version of Fox Sports Net on a single channel (think of SkySports in England). Programming-wise, they have enough of a supply to work with (Beyond the Glory, Best Damn, ACC Sunday Hoops, Big 12 Saturday football, Pac-10 Thursday Hoops, and the MLB & NFL report shows). Add the resources of their sister networks (such as MLB, NASCAR, soccer), they could pull it off. In other words, if Rupert realizes his dream of a national Fox Sports Net channel, then he wouldn't have much use for his regional networks.

Re: "4.3.06 The Ticket is Coming"--IT'S OFFICIAL!

Well, according to the L.A. Times, and a billboard I saw this morning on my way to work, FSN West 2 will become FSN Prime Ticket, starting with the Braves-Dodgers opener on Monday, April 3rd. The Times said that a formal announcement should take place next week.
