4 New General Managers come to Gray Television

These GM changes at Gray Television are at WCAX, WABI, WCAV and WCJB

Gray Television on Tuesday announced the promotion of veteran broadcasters to lead its television stations in four markets. Like all other new Gray General Managers named in 2017, these four individuals were promoted from within Gray’s station ranks.

In Burlington, Vt. (DMA 97), Jay Barton became the GM of WCAX (CBS) on June 1, upon the commencement of a standard pre-closing local marketing agreement for the station. Since 2012, Barton has served as the general manager of Gray’s Charlottesville, Va., stations. He succeeds Peter Martin, a career-long veteran of WCAX who in 1995 succeeded his own legendary father Red Martin as the station’s general manager.

In Bangor, Maine (DMA 156), Kim Lee is now GM of WABI (CBS). Lee has held various positions at WABI for the past 15 years including most recently as the general sales manager. She succeeded 34-year veteran and long-time GM, Mike Young, who recently retired from the station.

In Gainesville, Fla., (DMA 161), Alan Chatman has become GM of WCJB (ABC). He began his broadcast career more than 35 years ago, and he has served as WCJB’s general sales manager since 1994. He succeeded Carolyn Barrett, who recently retired after 38 years with WCJB, including the last 31 as the GM.

In Charlottesville, Va. (DMA 181), Eric Krebs has succeeded Barton as the GM of WCAV (CBS), WVAW-LP (ABC), and WAHU-CD (Fox). Krebs has spent his entire professional career in television broadcasting and has held several positions in multiple markets over the years. For the past six years, he has been the general sales manager for Gray’s Charlottesville stations.

Based on my knowledge, WCAX is the largest station owned by Gray Television. I also hear Jay Barton is a pretty decent guy.

of those 4 posted above? yup

But no where near the biggest. That would be Knoxvile, TN
Then Flint, MI
Roanoke, VA
Madison and Green Bay WI
Toledo
Omaha
Springfield, MO
Colorado Springs
and 13 more "larger" markets before you hit WCAX

I should have said "one of" the larger stations. Are those numbers next to the market name the market size? This site, http://www.tvjobs.com/cgi-bin/markets/market2.cgi, ranks WCAX in market 97, not 129. A Google search yields sites with similar ranking results.
