45 minute Rotation

It worked on WABC in the 60s/70s

It worked on KISS in LA in the 80s

It worked on KKBQ in the 80's

Will it work on todays CHR.? Not really. There isn't one song today thats worth playing that many times.

There is plenty of good music... but the real reason is PPM.

Man, you have been doing nothing but bashing HOT. Sounds to me they have your attention. Not to mention....you are probably nowhere NEAR the demo they are gearing to. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Your opinion on "what songs are worth playing" just shows people that you are in fact HUGELY outside the demo. It's not about you, its about the target demo. Which you and I are not in. Respect the station for its goal, its gonna be a PPM monster! That's just the facts. You don't have to like it.

BossJock... or "BJ"... I'm sorry they took your slow, boring, poorly programmed jazz station away. Bitching never really helps anything.

45 minutes is as long as anyone will listen, on average. It probably works today, just like it did in the old Top 40 days. Besides, people switch between stations, XM/Sirius, CDs, MP3 players, etc.

this has to be the lamest launch of a CHR station in the history of radio...

People have forgotten how repetitious the old Top 40 formats were. There is sort of an assumption that they were like today's Oldies stations, with longer playlists. And many of the Top 40's back then were actually Top 30's, Top 25's, or even Top 20's.

Still, I haven't heard a station as repetitious as Hot 95.7 since the old Z-97 in DFW in the late 70's.
