Tried to listen/record online but I couldn't get it to work, even after downloading Abacast. I did tune my stereo to 96.3 here in Beverly and WSRS was walking all over it (didn't record it) but I did hear something about "Cape Cod Destinations" (barely) at 1:59 followed by Jim Cutler's voice saying "WEEI Sports Radio network" etc
They're now talking about it on The Big Show.
If Butch from the Cape were still with us he would be getting a clearer signal now.
Another good radio station got killed in New England . R.I.P. 96.3 The Rose, Nash-1090 W I L D, Star 93.7, Smooth Jazz 96.9,Red Hot 95.5 Porland,Urban WRBB,Tropical 890,74 WCAS,The real Kiss 108,The Real Kiss 95.7 CT and Chr 96.5 T I C FM CT.
I sat in the car to hear the flip. In the house all I got was WSRS bleed, but heard it clearly in my driveway. A nice station 'retrospective', at the very end, Steve McVie thanking the listeners for being part of his life for the past 16 years, then Jim Cutler's voice on a legal ID (9 minutes late), then on into the 'big show'. Same audio as I flipped between 850 AM and 96.3 FM. Was sad to hear a small, fully staffed local radio station give way to the growing oligopoly of WEEI affiliates. At least most of the staff of the former Rose still have jobs within the company.
I wasn't available to hear the flip but I did hear D.Arnold earlier, saying he didn't think 'the Rose' would be a factor in Greater Boston and that he'd welcome a Boston fm station to the network. That would make EEI-am kind of worthless don't you think Dale?
I'd also be interested in hearing the flip if someone captured it... I wonder if they weren't using Abacast to stream, if more people were able to capture it (let alone hear it) online...
By the way, the new call letters for 96.3 are WEII.
There are 2 sections of my commute where I can hear 96.3, about a 5 mile stretch of I-93 south of the I-495 junction (only in mono) and a very short almost noise free catch on one of the 128 bridges just "north" (I guess that's really east) of the Burlington mall where you get a very good view of the Boston skyline, I'm guessing that's a nearly unobstructed shot to Dennis from there over the bay.
I'm in a no-man's land where even though if I got on my roof I could see the WEEI towers, because I'm in the nighttime null it's very hard to listen to nighttime Sox games. Just out of WEEI-FM's range unless I use my best receiver.
96.3 from the Cape comes in on the north section of 128, around Peabody/Lynnfield; floats in and out and
sometimes WSRS steps on it. During the summer when Prov/Cape Cod and even Conn. stations can be
carried up this way (also some Maine stations), I'm sure 96.3 might come in a bit better. Have also picked
up the 96.3 from Maine (WLOB-FM?) once in awhile
