5:00 Traffic Reports in Knoxville

When I leave for work at 5:00 I used to always depend on B-97.5 for a traffic report at about 5:02pm. Now for the last 2 or 3 days, they have stopped it for some really dumb reason. Does anyone know any other Knoxville station which gives a traffic report sometime between like 5:01 and 5:05pm? I can't find anyone else doing them in that time frame. I caught one on 93.1 at about 5:10, but that is long after I've already decided which route to take.

Thanks in advance.

The Sports Animal does one following their news/sportscast, usually at about 5:02. The NewsTalk100 traffic after their newscast rolls at about 5:04.

Newstalk 100's traffic is almost always sometime between 5:00 and 5:03 before their news starts, which starts a couple of minutes after 5pm.

Traffic on the music stations vary. WIVK does a traffic report immediately after their 4:55 news, but most times that traffic airs right at 5pm or just a hair before. The B-97 has varied more and more recently.

The only LIVE afternoon radio traffic reports in Knoxville are on WIVK, Newstalk 100, and B-97.5. The reports on all other stations are recorded.

The traffic reports on 99.1 are pretty much useless, morning and afternoon. It is not uncommon to hear the exact same recorded report for 45 minutes. When I'm 30 minutes late for work due to an accident (or bubbles) on Alcoa Hwy, but the reports are that 'everyting is moving fine, no slow downs to report', I want to rip my radio out of the dash.

People care about traffic reports? Who knew?

Well since you left, the reports stink. I also liked it when there was interaction between you and the show hosts. That underscored the real-time aspect.

I wouldn't know. In the few times I made it back to Knoxville in the first four months of the year, it was never at a time when I would hear the reports. I only know what I did and why I did it the way I did.

The interaction, which was tough with the eight second delay, was part of my way of letting listeners know we were live (not counting the delay). Certain managers were critical of how I did things, but I used studies done by Arbitron and others to back up my methods.

But that was then, and that is NO longer my gig as I am doing what I did not have the chance to do there....because Hal was not going to retire..too young, dammit!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks everyone for the info. I've been able to find a 5:02-ish report on usually either WNOX or the Animal. As for whether or not it's accurate, we'll see. I used to find B-97.5's reports very accurate, but since they decided to change the times, they are no longer of any use for me.

WNOX is a better choice for real-time info over the Animal at that time period just because Dave does go live on Newstalk. Usually the Animal is generally recent though, within 5 minutes or so.
