5.1 Surround sound

Still in theory , but with HD Radio finding its way into higher level recievers from Denon, Onyko, Pioneer,Yamahah, you think Ibquity would have at least something ready to go.

I seem to recall Frank Foti working on 5.1 for HD several years ago, maybe around 2003. There was a demo vehicle at the NAB. Maybe Frank will chime in.

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I don't believe there is currently a lot of music that is really 5.1 encoded. I suppose it depends on the station's format.

Even though I have a decent 5.1 system in my living room, and run the TV through it, I usually set the receiver to "stereo." Unless I'm watching a movie (and actually paying attention to it) I find the surround audio to be very distracting.

Of course, I'm officially old enough to be considered prehistoric.
