And, I was in Park City, UT on 5-31 listening to a 4-hour opening that featured scores of stations from the nation's mid-section. I guess it goes both ways!

The opening started with a bunch of FMs from Missouri and Oklahoma. Among others, I IDd KCMO from Kansas City, as well as a whole bunch of country stations.

As the evening wore on, the opening went north including "Kool 108" from the Twin Cities, and a classic rocker known as "The Loon". I was on the go in the car and Walkman, so I couldn't write down the catches, but there were dozens. Some overriding semi-locals while others were giving out a near perfect signal (like "Kool 108" with it's Superhits of the 60s and 70s moniker).

An amazing E-skip event - lasting from at least 5 pm to 9:30 pm and all the way to the upper end of the FM band.

One comment - there sure are a lot of country stations in that part of the US!! At one point, all I heard all over the dial were country and baseball! And most of the stations - at that time - were noted as being from Missouri.
