I have a station that wants to get an old Collins 820D-1 up and running for standby service. I'd like to swap out the 5-500As with 4-400s. Anyone here done that? Any suggestions? Pitfalls?
Don't know about the D-1 but I have an 820D-2 that someone before me did that conversion on. I believe all that was done was to rewire the filament transformers so they got 120V instead of 240V on the primary and made a few resistor changes on the modulator board in the feedback circuitry. Goodrich Enterprises may be able to help you on this.
