I frequently see people here mention that opt-outs during syndicated programming gives them "5-6 mins of stopset" - I'm in the UK and wouldn't dream of a commercial break being this long (the limit on our advertising minutes per hour notwithstanding!). Unless it's during a TOH news-break: Ads at :57 and then 3mins of news, maybe OK but 5 or 6 mins of actual commercials - wow!
I assume this is because you have shorter ones during the hour ? I'd love to see some example clocks to see just how this varies, not to mention some explanation as to why this appears to work when over here you'd have people reaching for BBC Radio 1 or 2
I'm very interested in US programming (from a behind-the-scenes POV) and find it amazing how you do things compared to us. Obviously with a piece of land the size of US (and probably a better licensing system), you can have a Country/Jazz/Oldies station in every market.
