5 PD's in 5 years???

Sales reps are saying John Stewart from WDJQ is the new PD a WHBC-FM and is bringing in a "popular Canton morning show".

Could be true. Could be crap.

IF true, this is about the 4,287 time employees have left Peterson and Co. and moved across the street.

Peterson is a toxic individual who treats people like garbage. He has the management skills of a rock.

In the last year, Peterson has driven away his morning show, a promotions director, and now a PD. Wonder who is next?

The best thing that could happen to Stewart is to get away from that horrible little troll. Not one person in that office has any respect for him.

Karma's a bitch, huh Don? ;D

It wouldn't be the last time that a PD made the jump to another station within the market, especially one traditionally perceived as one its heritage stations. Makes sense to me. I assume the above number is supposed to be a sarcastic reference to a perceived history of unhappy employees. Could be true. Could be crap.

The number is actually higher. :D

In 1990 the entire airstaff, except for one shift walked across the street. Part timers included.

It was repeated AGAIN in 1994.

A well known PD lasted ONE day before leaving in the early 2000s

Looking for some fun with public records?
Search state records for state of Ohio vs. WDPN radio inc.
Search stark records for "" vs. WDPN radio Inc.
Search stark records for "" vs. Donald Peterson III
How about Patrick Deluca vs. WDPN Radio Inc?
Finally search "Ohio Workers compensation vs. WDPN radio inc.

We're talking about a place that asked employees to bring in their own toilet paper.
True story.

Did anyone see the new Canton ratings? Since Deluca left, the listeners are running away faster than the employees. Who will be the last one left on the sinking ship? ???

Per radio insight:
http://radioinsight.com/blog/headlines/80486/pd-shuffle-leading-to-more-canton-changes/

Personally, I think it's aa dumb move, if it happens. 94.1 does significantly better than 92.5 as it is, in the ratings (Of course, NextMedia doesn't buy the ratings, so they're flying blind.) And, with 98.1 also doing CHR, that's 3 frequencies in Canton all going after the same audience. Not enough audience, not enough buying power in market #130.

And DeLuca in the mornings? They've sure gone a long way from the era when Skip Hornyak was spinning the elevator tunes back in the 60s and 70s...

Both @b941canton and @b941radio have been created on Twitter.

So if Deluca is indeed coming over to do mornings, that means that the current female co host will be blown out by the PD she walked out on a few years ago..while both she and her male co host were on the air..talk about Karma..

And what happens to ''Kayleigh Kriss?'' She has to be pushing 50..taking away her 80s tunes could have her running and screaming in the hallways...think she wants to do CHR at her age?

Will she be a goner? She, Pam, and Sam are pretty much what's left of the pre NextMedia staff..

And is this a NextMedia move, or a move of their yet to be approved ownership?

She's still listed on the website..as is their current morning show...

Look, do CHR all you want...but you've just handed the market to My 101 for the next several years..Clear Channel must be laughing and laughing at this point..just proves yet again that so called ''heritage'' stations can and will be beaten..just takes time, and various mistakes over time, to make it happen..

There's also @allthehitsb94 too for Canton. It'll be weird for "Mix" to give way to "B" if the reported changes do happen.

Who knows what will happen with the current AM/FM staffers. We shall see what happens after John comes in.

And John, if you're reading this, congrats on the new position! Best of luck to you at the stations. :)

Ah, I think this is officially my second post on these forums in 10 years..

I really wish John the best with this new venture. No one can really understand the toxic environment that existed within the DA Peterson building. John and I both dealt with it intimately for years. We persevered - with little help from management or sales - and arguably created one of the best sounding CHR's in the country. John is one hell of a programmer, one hell of a guy, and deserves much better than DP3 ever offered him. He has a vision I've always respected.

I owe my career (and loss of my first name) to John. As a 21 year old kid he saw something in me, promoted me to nights, then to mornings, and pushed me on a daily basis to be the best I could be. He's a class act all the way, and will do amazing things for WHBC.

As for my involvement, I'm still abiding by Mr. Peterson's non-compete - until February 2, 2013 at 12:01 AM - not that I'm keeping track.

While getting fired 2 weeks after getting a 30 share really sucks, this past year has been difficult but wonderful. Charlotte and I's internet radio product has grown incrementally monthly, we've signed a distribution agreement with TuneIn, passed 72,000 connections last month alone on DSN Hits, and have a bunch of satisfied advertisers.

Donnie forced us off of his stage and we've created our own. It's still a work in progress, but we really believe we're on to something big.

What will happen in the near future in regards to us and terrestrial I have no idea, but I can assure you Double D Media, DSN Hits, The DeLuca Show, and our other products WILL continue.

Now g'head and bash away. :)

Nobody is interested in bashing you, Mr DeLuca..as someone who heard your night time efforts and your move to mornings, what you have is what you yourself have earned..

But why, after building your own empire, would you even think of returning to commercial radio?

Follow the example of Adam Carolla, who now has a daily documented audience of a quarter million listeners, myself included..

Commercial radio? Its a dying medium..and a move to WHBC is really not even a real interesting lateral move anymore..

Hell, I remember when the Canton newspaper was touting you as the ''new Stern''...is Alliance really as good as it gets?

Is Canton?

Seriously?

Many radio people won't be hired unless they agree to sign a 1-year non-compete...and at many stations this is for on-air and sales people.

Meaning if they leave (or are shown the door) for any reason, they can't work for 1 year at any station within a 50-mile radius, used to be typical.

Don't know if this is still the rule for new hires in the past 5 or 10 years, but used to be pretty standard...especially in medium and larger markets.

Speaker of the Truth: Read with interest your comments about commercial radio. You're saying what many past, even many current radio people will tell you privately: they are not confident their jobs will exist even a few years from now. Many hope to hang on as long as they can.

Really sad what the Tel-Com bill of the mid-1990's and computer/VTing/automation industry has done to radio. Live/local content? Please! Really a shame.
