5 SHAKES UP GOOD DAY ATLANTA

AJC's Rodney Ho is reporting that Mark Hayes is going to have a reduced role on Fox 5's Good Day Atlanta. Sportscaster Buck Lanford will be co-hosting the 7-9 am portion of GDA with Gurvir Dhindsa. Hayes had been the solo anchor at 4:30 but Karen Graham will handle that 30 minute slot now. Dhindsa will stick with her 5-9 am shift and Graham will continue hosting the 9am hour.

These moves appear to be just for the summer and I still would not be suprised to see Paul Ossman make a return to the program this fall.

That morning shift is quite the grind! Mark has put in a lot of hours on the morning shift over the years. I wonder if he's wanting to move on and become an evening news anchor. I would definitely welcome Paul Ossmann back to WAGA, but I don't know they can afford him...

Not that I wouldn't like to have Paul work in a TV position that pays him what he is worth, but realistically, there isn't much to choose from in this market. Unless Ken Cook or Glen Burns retire, Good Day Atlanta will look good verses "unpaid vacation".

It is obvious that Ken is so close to retirement. Maybe Paul Ossman will be back to GDA, it would be a good move on WAGA. Mark Hayes mentioned almost a year ago that he would not resign in the spring. Maybe Mark is there for a short-term while WAGA line up a better line-up.
