500+ mile tropo on Long Island

nd2023

Banned
I was on Long Island today, and got CKWM 94.9 all the way from Nova Scotia. Is it common to hear tropo from that distance on LI? It's my longest tropo catch ever, which beat out a previous record of 400 miles.

There's been a lot of tropo going on lately, I've been getting WBLI all the way in the Poconos occasionally for the past two weeks.

On a side note, my all time record was actually on TV, back in 1994 or 1993 I picked up WEDU/3 from Tampa, FL with nothing but a coat hanger.

For the people who picked up New Orleans and Tampa, was that e-skip or tropo? 510 miles is my tropo record, my e-skip record is 1400 miles.

I have no idea, I was like 8 when I picked it up. It was back when I lived on Long Island, I remember I used to get WFSB on 3 a lot, then one day I turned it on and I saw Lamb Chops Play-a-long on, I waited a few minutes for the station ID after the show was over the promos said WEDU Tampa. The picture was very snowy, but you could make out the images and audio.

I was in the car with a friend of mine about 5 years ago at the Sunrise Mall, listening to 103.7 The Buzz, booming loud and proud from Little Rock, AK. Listening to the local commercials, the local AK dealerships was hilarious.

Best DX on TV.
When I was a kid I saw WDSU Channel 6 on my fathers big metal RCA color TV in Bethpage.
Fading in and out.
