50's/60's Board....it's been hijacked....

Amen to that, Gr8t. That thread and comment has been beaten to a pulp.

And will probably never completely go away...so long as there are frustrated record collectors
who want their own radio stations...

Frustrated record collectors have the best music - they don't need no stinkin' radio stations. ;D 8)

So, what did this board used to have on it?

Hardly nothing, before the song trivia this board has been very quiet.

Probably because '50s/early '60s radio has been very quiet. Unless you're talking about satellite or internet radio. And they have their own boards. I don't know of any major OTA markets that program this format. I hate to say it, but this board is obsolete.

I've been re-thinking this, and I was WRONG. This board is not obsolete. Just because commercial radio abandoned the format doesn't mean the board should disappear. I'm sure that the administrator would welcome posts related to '50s/'60s internet or satellite radio. So tell us what you like (or don't like) about XM/Sirius Channels 5 & 6. And tell us about some of those great internet streams you've found that most of us don't know about. Let's keep the spirit of "50s/'60s music alive, even though commercial radio doesn't.

Absolutely, and this site could be great for 50 and 60 lovers to find sources of music that may be hard to find and relate stories of interest to the readers.

A friend just sent this to me, so I haven't really checked it out: www.theradio.com. Looks like it's free with commercials, or $3 a month without.
