I just recently returned from a working vacation; surveying yet another over-priced AM station for sale in Central CA.But while driving along the 101, I noticed that, in many cities, instead of a TIS station advertising travel information they had a 511 phone number to call. I thought this was a great idea since many travelers like myself have their cell phones with them.Using a 3-digit phone number for travel or airport information would be a wonderul solution for metro areas, such as L.A., which are impacted by TIS stations, especially on the X-band. In this way, TIS stations would only be needed in isolated areas where there is no cell phone service. If TIS stations could be migrated to telephone service, just think of the amount of space this would free up for LPAM.db
